Job description

Deckorators, a UFP Industries brand, creates innovative decking, railing, and outdoor-living products that combine performance, durability, and standout design.
We are looking for a hands-on manufacturing leader to help us continue delivering the quality and innovation our customers expect. This is an opportunity to lead people, improve processes, and play an important role in the production of products used to create outdoor spaces that stand out.
Job Summary
The Injection Molding Supervisor is responsible for leading the people, equipment, and production activities assigned to the second shift.
This individual oversees the daily operation of the injection molding department, including employee performance, production scheduling, machine and mold utilization, product quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate has direct plastic injection molding experience, understands how to balance production demands with people leadership, and is comfortable working alongside employees to resolve issues and improve results. Experience with PVC injection molding is strongly preferred.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the daily operations of the injection molding department during second shift.
  • Direct, train, coach, and develop production employees.
  • Communicate daily production priorities, expectations, and performance results to the team.
  • Assign employees and equipment based on production schedules, staffing needs, machine availability, and mold capacity.
  • Monitor production performance and make adjustments to meet safety, quality, cost, and output expectations.
  • Oversee the setup, operation, and performance of injection molding machines and related equipment.
  • Ensure required process checks, production documentation, and quality inspections are completed accurately and on time.
  • Identify and resolve production, quality, staffing, and equipment-related issues.
  • Partner with Maintenance to coordinate preventive maintenance, machine repairs, mold changes, and equipment improvements.
  • Help reduce downtime, waste, overtime, and other production inefficiencies.
  • Maintain appropriate department inventory levels and support the accurate movement of materials.
  • Review employee performance and provide timely coaching, feedback, recognition, and corrective action when necessary.
  • Identify employees with the potential for additional training, responsibility, or advancement.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained before operating machinery or performing assigned work.
  • Lead and support continuous-improvement initiatives, including 5S, total productive maintenance, standard work, and waste reduction.
  • Use production data and visual-management tools to communicate priorities and track department performance.
  • Conduct routine machine, process, housekeeping, and safety audits.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, operating procedures, quality standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and ensure employees consistently follow required safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Support job-safety analyses, lockout/tagout requirements, machine guarding, and other plant safety programs.
  • Participate in safety meetings and help implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Prepare production reports and maintain required department records.
  • Communicate regularly with management and other departments regarding production status, staffing, equipment, quality, and operational concerns.
  • Complete company forklift training and assist with material movement when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Direct experience working with plastic injection molding processes and equipment is required.
  • PVC injection molding experience is strongly preferred.
  • Two to four years of manufacturing experience required.
  • One to three years of experience leading, supervising, or managing employees required.
  • Post-secondary education, technical training, or equivalent relevant manufacturing leadership experience required.
  • Working knowledge of injection molding machines, molds, processing requirements, and production workflows.
  • Understanding of preventive maintenance, machine troubleshooting, and standard work instructions.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, including lockout/tagout and machine guarding.
  • Familiarity with continuous-improvement principles such as 5S and total productive maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of quality standards, process controls, and production documentation.
  • Ability to organize people, machines, materials, and schedules in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach employees, establish expectations, and hold team members accountable.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting.
  • Ability to identify production issues, determine root causes, and implement practical solutions.
  • Comfortable learning company systems, production-reporting tools, and internal procedures.
  • Ability to successfully complete the company's forklift-licensing process.

What Will Help You Succeed
  • You are comfortable being visible and engaged on the production floor.
  • You can maintain accountability while treating employees fairly and respectfully.
  • You understand that safety, quality, and production performance must work together.
  • You communicate expectations clearly and follow through consistently.
  • You are willing to challenge inefficient processes and help develop better ways of working.
  • You remain organized and steady when production priorities change.
  • You take ownership of problems and work collaboratively to resolve them.

Why Join Deckorators?
  • Lead an important manufacturing operation for a growing outdoor-living brand.
  • Work with advanced injection molding machines and production technology.
  • Have a direct impact on employee development, product quality, and operational performance.
  • Help implement continuous improvements instead of simply maintaining existing processes.
  • Build leadership experience within the broader UFP Industries organization.
