Job Title: Inventory Product Specialist (Graduate Gemologist)

Reports To: The Inventory Product Specialist will report directly to the Gemology Manager

Job Overview 

As an Inventory Product Specialist, you will evaluate and categorize a variety of gemological variables for resell. This role requires expertise in diamond grading, pricing, and valuation methodologies, gemstone identification, and pricing jewelry for resale purposes. You will review items processed by the breakdown team to verify authenticity, group items to optimize sales opportunities, and remove unsellable items for inventory adjustments. You will also provide training to team members on product attributes and values while collaborating with other departments to drive organizational goals and improve product liquidation efficiency.

Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review and assess inventory items for authenticity and accuracy after they are added into on-hand inventory by the breakdown team
  • Inspect and analyze diamonds and jewelry using proper grading techniques and apply RAP pricing
  • Identification of gemstones and diamonds for resale purposes 
  • Identify and remove unsellable items, ensuring appropriate inventory adjustments
  • Conduct training sessions for team members on product knowledge and specialized categories
  • Provide coaching and support to employees on diamond grading and valuation techniques
  • Communicate updates or needs to the department in a timely manner from various partners (GIA, stone cutter, RAPAPORT, etc.)
  • Support department productivity through active leadership, coaching, and goal execution
  • Collaborate with sales, inventory, and liquidation teams to meet organizational objectives
  • Communicate effectively with department leaders and stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve issues related to product evaluation and inventory management
  • Learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements
  • Any other duties as assigned by management 

Qualifications 

  • GIA Graduate Gemologist Diploma 
  • Able to identify and price gemstones to comparable sales/wholesale
  • Demonstrated ability to inspect diamonds and apply RAP pricing effectively
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Experience coaching and training employees
  • Problem solving mindset and analytical skills
  • Full-time, in-office setting
  • Candidates may be required to complete a practical assessment
