Ashland, ME – FT/Rotating – Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
Job Description:

Immediate opening for an experienced Millwright to join a well-established manufacturer in Ashland. This role offers competitive wages and a full benefits package including 401(k) with employer match, PTO, and medical, dental, and vision insurance available upon permanent hire with our client. Full-time rotating schedule: 5:00 AM–5:00 PM (Days) or 5:00 PM–5:00 AM (Nights). $22.33/hr., depending on experience.
The Millwright will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial machinery to support safe, continuous, and efficient mill operations. This role includes troubleshooting mechanical issues, performing precise equipment calibrations, and contributing to preventive and predictive maintenance programs. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced industrial setting. Applicants should have 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience; an associate degree or trade certification in a related field is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, install, maintain, and repair production machinery and mechanical systems using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce downtime and maximize production efficiency.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and fabrication drawings.
  • Repair or replace chains, belts, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, hydraulics, and pneumatic components.
  • Align and balance equipment such as motors, shafts, and couplings.
  • Weld, cut, or fabricate metal components as needed for machinery repair or modification (if qualified).
  • Install or modify guards, platforms, and other safety-related components.
  • Complete detailed maintenance logs and work orders in accordance with company procedures.
  • Follow all established safety policies and ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Assist with large-scale equipment installations, shutdowns, and start-ups.

Job Requirements:
  • 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably with stationary production equipment or mill environments.
  • Associate degree or trade certification in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to job site safety.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, work at heights, and perform physical labor in industrial conditions.
