Position Summary:
The Risk Manager I supports the implementation of risk management programs, conducts data analysis, and collaborates with clinical and operational teams to promote a culture of safety and compliance


Essential Functions:
• Supports the daily administration of the risk management plan for assigned areas, ensuring investigative support and swift resolution of incidents.
• Leverages data analytics to identify systemic risks and drive continuous improvement across the organization.
• Delivers educational programs to raise awareness of risk prevention and basic compliance practices.
• Complies with the risk management related standards set by the Joint Commission and other accrediting and regulatory agencies directly enhancing patient safety, promoting quality care, and minimizing organizational liability.
• Advises physicians, nurses, and staff by delivering guidance and timely solutions to professional liability and facility-related inquiries.
• Leads investigations into product-related issues, ensuring appropriate responses to federal, state, and manufacturer requirements.
• Participates in transparent disclosure processes for medical errors, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
• Leads comprehensive root cause analyses and ensures prompt, thorough reporting of adverse events to all relevant stakeholders.
• Represents Orlando Health in high-level interactions with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external stakeholders, advocating for organizational interests and compliance.
• Complies with various codes, laws, and regulations concerning patient care, including those mandated by state and federal agencies and incident reporting requirements, which include investigation activities of federal, state, and local enforcement authorities.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

Other Related Functions:
• Develops, coordinates, and administers facility or assigned area-wide systems for risk identification, investigation, and reduction; maintains a network of informational sources and experts; performs risk surveys and inspects patient care areas; and reviews the facility or assigned area for loss potential.
• Conducts proactive analysis of patientsafety and medical errors processes.
• Serves in committees directed towards promoting patient safety issues.
• Maintains awareness of and communication of legislative and regulatory updatesrelated to health care risk management.
• Collects, evaluates, and distributesrelevant data concerningpatientinjuries, aggregatedata summaries, and monthly trend analyses of incidents and trends; provides aggregate analysis of risk data; and maintains statistical trending and results of risk management data.
• Informs administrators and department managers regarding occurrences, issues, findings, and risk management recommendations; provides feedback to all administrators to support the elimination of risks; and assists clinical chiefs and department managers in designing risk management programs within their departments.
• Delivers in-service training to hospital personnel to enhance awareness of their role in reducing facility or assigned areas liability exposure.
• Demonstrates all competencies required by Florida Statute.
• Participatesin on-call responsibilities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.


Education/Training:
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a closely related field

Experience:
• Two (2) years of clinical or medical legal experience.
• Advanced PC literacy required.
