Job description

Maintenance Department Manager - 2nd Shift
Pay: $75,000 to $82,000
Family Dollar's busy fully automated retail distribution center in Rome, NY is looking to add an experienced Maintenance Manager to our team. This person will oversee an assigned shift's maintenance operations and provide leadership to a team of technicians while fostering a culture of safety in order to keep our DC in top working order.
General Summary:
The role of the Maintenance Department Manager is to provide maintenance support to the DC Operation on their specified shift. This person is also responsible for a team of up to 10 hourly technicians. This person will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the maintenance personnel. This position is responsible for embracing Family Dollar's store-centric commitment to customers, customer service and sales.
What you'll be doing:
  • Performing routine and emergency equipment maintenance on various systems throughout the DC including:
  • Rapistan/Dematic Conveyor Systems
  • Material Handling Equipment
  • High-tech sortation/automated laser scanners
  • HVAC
  • Welding equipment
  • Responsible for building and ground maintenance
  • Resolves various equipment problems
  • Assist in safety compliance and programs
  • Selecting, training, motivating and development of staff
  • Other duties as assigned

What we need from you:
  • Must be able to continuously walk the Distribution Center for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and shifts

Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors' Degree in Industrial Maintenance preferred.
3 to 5 years of related experience and/or training and 1 to 2 years supervisory and/or management experience.
Job Related Skills:
  • Electrical/electronic background and experience with conveyors, welding, air compressors, scanners, electronic controls or industrial building maintenance required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals is key.
  • Previous experience with MP2 program and PLC is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Radio Frequency and pick-to-light systems desired.
  • Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills are key for all positions, as well as strong planning and organization skills.
  • Computer Skills: MS Office Suite proficiency
