Day Shift

Position Summary

St. Paul Elder Services is seeking a dependable and motivated Cook to join our Culinary Services team. In this role, you will prepare nutritious, high-quality meals that support the health and well-being of the seniors we serve. Working in collaboration with the Nutrition Services team, you will ensure meals are prepared according to standardized recipes, prescribed diets, and food safety standards while providing an exceptional dining experience for our residents.

The ideal candidate is organized, team-oriented, and committed to delivering quality food and outstanding service in a healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review menus, production sheets, and communication boards to determine food preparation needs.
  • Prepare meals according to standardized recipes while maintaining quality, consistency, proper texture, portion sizes, and safe serving temperatures.
  • Taste and evaluate food during preparation to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Prepare meals that meet prescribed therapeutic diets and make approved substitutions when necessary.
  • Coordinate food preparation to ensure meals are served on schedule.
  • Portion food according to established menu guidelines.
  • Assist with the supervision of Nutrition Services operations in the absence of the Director of Nutrition Services and team leaders.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchens, refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and food preparation spaces.
  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitation tasks in accordance with health and regulatory standards.
  • Receive and check food and supply deliveries as needed.
  • Assist in training team members on the proper use and care of kitchen equipment.
  • Participate in departmental audits and quality improvement activities.
  • Report equipment issues and supply needs promptly.
  • Follow HIPAA confidentiality requirements, organizational policies, infection prevention practices, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and required in-service education.
