Job description

Hands-On Cloud AWS Architect

The Opportunity:

At a certain point, experience-based system design can start to look like clairvoyance. When you've developed so many systems that you can not only orchestrate the best solution for any technology-based challenge, but you can also anticipate and preempt future issues, you're a solutions architect. You've evolved your skills into strategy through a long path of software development accomplishments and the curiosity to understand how all the pieces of an IT ecosystem fit together. Are you ready to use your combination of knowledge, skill, and experience to take on the toughest challenges in the DoD Air Force?

As an AWS solution architect on our team, you'll translate your customer's IT needs and future goals into a plan by crafting Office 365, Azure, AWS, and GCP, designing, architecting, and deploying production-grade AWS solutions, modernizing infrastructure, enabling secure cloud environments, including GovCloud and DoD IL, and contributing to enterprise-level cloud transformation initiatives. Through your leadership, we'll help transform the way the Air Force uses technology, including cloud migration, integrating advanced technology, and modernizing legacy systems. What do you do next in a career where you've reached this level? You mentor the next set of developers to help them grow into tomorrow's solutions architects. As a technical leader, you'll shape the digital solutions business and identify opportunities for growth.

Work with us and build the future of technology for our warfighters for the better.

Join us. The world can't wait.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in IT
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and deploying production AWS solutions
  • Experience architecting and engineering cloud solutions in AWS, including VPC design, IAM, EC2, containerized workloads, storage services, and networking fundamentals
  • Experience with cloudnative and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, InfrastructureasCode such as Terraform and CloudFormation, automated testing, and secure deployment workflows
  • Experience with AWS in GovCloud and DoD or IL environments
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional and 8570 IAT II Security+ CE Certifications

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience designing and implementing automated build or deploy toolchains such as DevSecOps pipelines using GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins
  • Experience in cloud cost optimization, including workload rightsizing, autoscaling strategies, tagging, governance, and leveraging AWS native costmanagement tools
  • Experience migrating onpremises systems to AWS, including application refactoring, data migration, and modernization of legacy mission systems
  • Experience with containerized and Kubernetesbased architectures such as ECS and EKS, supporting scalable and resilient mission workloads in cloud environments
  • Experience working within GovCloud or DoD IL environments, applying security controls and compliance frameworks, including NIST, RMF, and 80053
  • Ability to collaborate with AOC mission stakeholders to translate operational needs into cloud-native architectural enhancements
