Job description

Assistant Project Manager – General Contractor/Developer

Downtown Chicago | Hybrid – Work From Home 2–3 Days Per Week

We are partnered with a growing, vertically integrated real estate developer and general contractor looking to add an Assistant Project Manager to its Chicago construction team.

This is a GC-side project management position, supporting the construction of the company’s multifamily, mixed-use and commercial developments throughout Chicago.

The role offers the responsibilities and career progression of a traditional general contractor, with the added benefit of working alongside the development team and gaining exposure to how projects are acquired, designed, financed and brought to market.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Managing RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation
  • Assisting with subcontractor buyout and scope reviews
  • Reviewing pay applications, budgets and cost reports
  • Coordinating subcontractors, consultants and internal project teams
  • Supporting project schedules, procurement and material tracking
  • Attending owner, architect and contractor meetings
  • Assisting with quality control, closeout and turnover

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Manager
  • Multifamily, mixed-use or commercial construction experience
  • Strong knowledge of standard GC project-management processes
  • The ambition to progress into a Project Manager position

The company offers a strong pipeline of Chicago-based work, direct exposure to senior leadership, excellent career progression and a flexible hybrid schedule with the ability to work from home two to three days per week.
