Job description

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule

Part-time position available with the Parks & Recreation Department, Recreation Division located at Gregg/Klice Community Center, 1600 John "Buck" O'Neil Way
Starting Salary: $17.35/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Saturday-Wednesday, 3:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. or 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities
  • Plans and organizes assigned recreation activities in the area of Boxing (Youth Boxing, open gym, Kickboxing, Cardio Boxing, Group Fitness).
  • Develops new programs and activities by researching trends, community requests, and evaluating community needs.
  • Promotes community center and division programs.
  • Prepares class and schedules information and markets it to the public through brochures, social media, and/or other materials and methods.
  • Assists in implementing the marketing plan for division offerings.
  • Observes and monitors the quality of Boxing programs, events, classes and activities.
  • Prepares and controls equipment inventory and stock deliveries.
  • Orders, inspects, and maintains recreation equipment and materials.
  • Assists supervisor with program budget development and management.
  • Maintain records and develop reports concerning new and/or ongoing programs and program effectiveness.
  • Performs administrative tasks, such as attending and scheduling meetings, monitoring expenditures, and maintaining records.
  • Performs routine facility maintenance and logistics, including but not limited to, the setup and tear down of tables, chairs, equipment, and supplies.
  • Oversees fee collection and accounting activities.
  • Reviews records and files to ensure proper accounting and documentation consistent with City policies and procedures.
  • Maintains records and completes required reports.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external customers.
  • Responds to requests and inquiries from the general public.
  • Provides information regarding assigned recreational program area.
  • Analyzes customer inquiries and determines steps necessary to resolve issues.
  • Assists with department special events as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

REQUIRES high school graduation and 6 months of experience in community recreation, sports instruction, arts education, or related programming (e.g., coaching, teaching art or music). May be required to possess a valid stateissued drivers license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Must pass a preemployment drug screen as prescribed by the City. Preference given to those who are Boxing Coach certified from USA Boxing.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
