Job description

Total Aviation Staffing is hiring an experienced Sheet Metal Mechanic for our client, a leading aviation maintenance and technical services provider supporting high-performance military aircraft.

This role is ideal for an aircraft structures technician with strong experience in precision drilling, fastener installation, structural assembly, and sheet metal fabrication. You will work directly on F-16 aircraft, supporting structural build-up, repair, and installation work where quality, accuracy, and attention to detail are critical.

What You’ll Do

As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will support aircraft structural work by fabricating, assembling, repairing, and installing sheet metal components and assemblies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, fastener layouts, and aircraft structural repair documentation.

  • Fabricate, assemble, and install sheet metal and structural assemblies for F-16 aircraft.

  • Use precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure accuracy throughout the assembly and repair process.

  • Drill, ream, rivet, and install various aircraft fasteners.

  • Perform countersinking, part trimming, and other structural preparation tasks.

  • Support fuselage component build-up and aircraft structural assembly work.

  • Maintain high standards for quality, precision, and workmanship.

  • Follow all applicable safety procedures, maintenance practices, and technical requirements.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a hands-on aviation structures professional with strong attention to detail and proven experience working on aircraft sheet metal or structural assemblies. This role requires someone who understands aircraft structural quality standards and can perform precision work in a production or maintenance environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 6 years of recent aircraft sheet metal, aircraft structures, or precision drilling experience.

  • Experience performing sheet metal work on aircraft.

  • Strong knowledge of aircraft structural assembly operations and maintenance practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fastener layouts, technical drawings, and work instructions.

  • Experience drilling, reaming, riveting, countersinking, trimming, and installing aircraft fasteners.

  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced aviation maintenance or aerospace production environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on F-16 aircraft or other military aircraft.

  • Fighter aircraft structural maintenance or modification experience.

  • Aerospace, defense, MRO, depot-level maintenance, or aircraft manufacturing experience.

  • Familiarity with aircraft fuselage structures, component build-up, and structural repair processes.
