Job description

What to Expect in the Role:

The manager and supervisors will determine the requirements of the position.  Some of the functions which incumbents will be required to perform include:

            Repair and maintain fleet vehicles.

            Repair and maintain all farm equipment.

            Spot paint repaired equipment.

            Repair and maintain electronic and computer command ignition systems.

            Repair and maintain carburetor and fuel injection systems.

            Repair and maintain air conditioning systems.

            Repair and maintain drive train and hydraulic systems.

            Repair and maintain stationary irrigation units.

            Perform major overhauls on gas and diesel engines.

            Perform heavy maintenance welding.

            Perform electrical repairs and wiring.

            Trouble shoot system and equipment problems using diagnostic tools.

            Understand and follow the manufacturer's specifications for equipment operation 

            Maintain shop work orders, service records, and necessary paperwork

            Actively maintain/update knowledge and skills through training and classes.

            Competency with hand tools, power tools, welding torches, and shop equipment.

            Operate all vehicles and farm equipment for testing purposes..

            Keep work area, supplies and equipment clean and neat.

            Perform all safety requirements.

What We Will Be Needing From You: 
  • You will perform duties in all locations with occasional off property service calls. 
  • You will be exposed to all temperature and weather extremes, moving equipment, loud noises, dust, cleaners, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, fuel, lubricants, paint, fertilizer, wetness, and walking on soft sand and hard, rough, uneven surfaces.
  • You need the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously in fast paced work environment. 
  • Ability to distinguish color wiring. 
  • Requires minimum vision standards, depth perception and adequate pulmonary function test. 
  • Minimum three years' experience in the repair and maintenance of farm equipment, fleet vehicles, machinery, and stationary irrigation units in a grove/nursery environment. 
  • Requires a valid CDL License with appropriate endorsements 
  • Requires current air-conditioning certification
