Job description

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides individualized support and supervision to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities in a 1:3 staffing ratio. DSPs help participants build independence, learn new skills, and engage in meaningful community activities that enhance quality of life. This role focuses on promoting dignity, respect, safety, and inclusion while encouraging each participant to reach their personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct care and supervision to up to 3 participants at a time.
Implement individual service plans (ISPs) and support participants in achieving person-centered goals.
Facilitate community outings such as recreational activities, shopping, volunteering, and educational programs.
Support participants with Independent Living Skills (e.g., cooking, budgeting, laundry, transportation training).
Promote health and wellness through exercise, proper nutrition, and self-care reminders.
Encourage social development, friendship building, and positive peer interactions.
Assist with safety awareness and emergency preparedness during all activities.
Maintain accurate daily contact logs, attendance, and progress notes in compliance with program and regional center requirements.
Report any incidents, concerns, or changes in participant behavior promptly to supervisors.
Uphold dignity, respect, and inclusion for all participants at all times.
