Job description

Job Summary:

The Program Instructor โ€“ Community Programs, brings the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to life by facilitating high-quality, relevant, and engaging programs for girls in grades Kโ€“12 during school-day (advisory/PE) or after-school hours at designated partner sites. These team members are energetic educators and mentors who use our National Program Portfolio to deliver programming that is girl-led, culturally responsive, and aligned with both Girl Scout outcomes and the priorities of school and community partners.

Program Instructors build strong relationships with girls, teachers, site staff, and caregivers, ensuring that girls are aware of and connected to the full range of Girl Scout opportunitiesโ€”including camp, the cookie program, STEM experiences, family nights, and community events. They embody empathy, relatability, and consistencyโ€”creating spaces where all girls feel seen, supported, and inspired.

Program Facilitation & Experience Delivery

โ€ขDeliver fun, interactive, and age-appropriate programming aligned with the National Program Portfolio, adapted to the needs of each school or community partner site.

โ€ขFoster a safe and inclusive environment that promotes Girl Scout values, leadership development, and positive relationships.

โ€ขIncorporate Girl Scout traditions, cooperative learning, and girl-led activities to deepen engagement and identity as a Girl Scout.

โ€ขConnect girls and families to broader opportunities including camps, cookie program, STEM Center events, and council-wide initiatives.

Relationship Building & Community Alignment

โ€ขBuild positive, professional relationships with site staff, teachers, caregivers, and girls.

โ€ขEnsure programming supports both Girl Scout leadership outcomes and the school/community partner's goals for youth development.

โ€ขServe as a trusted site representative of GSNETX, communicating needs and successes to your supervisor.

Data, Logistics & Accountability

โ€ขAccurately complete and submit administrative tasks including attendance, membership and HHS forms, permission slips, evaluations, and surveys.

โ€ขEnsure supplies are gathered, program kits are maintained, and spaces are prepared and cleaned before and after activities.

โ€ขDeliver feedback and outcome data to support program evaluation and improvement.

โ€ขMaintain flexible scheduling to adapt to site needs while meeting attendance and delivery benchmarks.

Organizational Collaboration

โ€ขParticipate in regular team meetings, required training, and council-wide events as assigned.

โ€ขMentor girls during the Cookie Program to support goal setting, business skills, and confidence-building.

โ€ขSupport or lead special events, field trips, and take-action projects, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

โ€ขHigh school diploma or equivalent required; some college or youth development experience preferred.

โ€ขExperience working with children or youth in educational or community settings.

โ€ขCommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; ability to relate to girls from a wide range of backgrounds.

โ€ขAbility to travel to program sites across the council footprint.

โ€ขStrong communication and organization skills; detail-oriented and dependable.

โ€ขBilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
