Kratos provides U.S. industrial credibility and speed; Rafael transfers decades of combat-proven designs, manufacturing IP, and technical training to ensure field-ready products from day one.

Job Description

The Supply Chain Specialist supports procurement, supplier coordination, material planning, and logistics activities for solid rocket motor manufacturing and defense propulsion programs. This role ensures timely, compliant, and cost?effective acquisition of energetic materials, precision components, and mission?critical hardware. The Specialist works closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Program Management to maintain a secure and resilient supply chain aligned with DoD, NASA, and ITAR requirements. Reports to the Director of Supply Chain & Contracts

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Sourcing
  • Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier bids, and place purchase orders for propellant ingredients, energetic materials, cases, nozzles, igniters, valves, and machined components
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms in accordance with FAR/DFARS and company policies
  • Support long?lead procurement planning for propulsion development and production programs
  • Assist in cost estimates and proposal inputs for new business opportunities

Supplier Coordination & Oversight

  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on?time delivery of materials and hardware
  • Monitor supplier performance and escalate risks or delays
  • Support supplier audits, capability assessments, and corrective action activities
  • Ensure suppliers receive proper technical data, quality requirements, and regulatory flow?downs

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all supply chain activities comply with ITAR, EAR, DFARS, AS9100, and internal procedures
  • Maintain accurate procurement records, certifications, and traceability for controlled materials
  • Support internal and external audits, including DCMA, DCAA, and prime?contractor reviews
  • Coordinate with Export Compliance and Security for handling classified or export?controlled items

Material Planning & Production Support

  • Track material requirements to support propellant mixing, casting, curing, assembly, and static fire test operations
  • Monitor inventory levels, safety stock, and material availability for high?hazard production environments
  • Resolve material shortages, delivery issues, and supply disruptions
  • Collaborate with Engineering on configuration changes, part revisions, and obsolescence

Logistics & Material Handling

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including hazardous materials and controlled items
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, ATF, and DoD explosive safety regulations
  • Support proper storage, labeling, and movement of energetic materials and classified hardware

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2-5 years of supply chain or procurement experience in defense, aerospace, or high-hazard manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS, ITAR, and AS9100 requirements
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Experience with solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, or energetic materials
  • Experience supporting government audits or DCMA oversight
  • Familiarity with hazardous?materials logistics
  • Deltek Costpoint and SharePoint user experience
