Job Description
Coffman Engineers' is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in consulting engineering and project management with at least ten years of experience for our DC Metro office. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated team player looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity within a dynamic and progressive firm. The successful individual will work closely with our business development team and other discipline leads in developing technical proposals and will take a proactive role in marketing/business development. This role provides the opportunity to help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals within a collaborative multidiscipline office. This candidate will be working directly with clients providing consulting services.
Applicants must be well versed in all aspects of electrical systems design and specification. The desired individual should be comfortable consulting to architects, owners, and general contractors, and have a desire to work as part of a multidiscipline engineering team.
Qualifications
  • Perform the following functions:
    • Design of electrical systems
    • Manage and design multiple concurrent projects
    • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings
    • Lead design team efforts
    • Manage project team for budget and schedule control
    • Develop fee and qualification-based proposals
  • Must be familiar with electrical/energy codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NESC, IESNA, IECC, etc.)
  • Must have SKM, ETAP, or similar electrical modeling software experience.
  • The focus of the experience must be in the power industry associated with electrical engineering and design of Industrial, higher education, healthcare, federal government and/or commercial projects.
  • Experience with lighting design is desired, but not required.
  • Experience with Telecom, A/V, Cybersecurity, and security designs is desired, but not required.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint software preferred.
  • Conduct marketing/business development activities.
  • Positive contributor to overall office and department goals, culture, and morale.
  • Ability to travel.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S) in Electrical engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project Management experience and/or certifications.
  • Desire to lead inter-disciplinary projects and project teams.
  • Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.
  • Active local industry involvement is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Approximate Base Salary - 120k-170k based on experience. Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.
  • Paid overtime at 1.0 times hourly rate
  • Competitive end of year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance
  • Hybrid Work Schedule (subject to change)
  • 401k with maximum of 5% Contribution Matching for 9% Employee Contribution
