Job description

Extended Day & Camp Instructor

Kids Connection | Part-Time | School Year & Summer

Kids Connection is seeking caring, energetic, and enthusiastic Extended Day & Camp Instructors to join our team! This position creates a safe, engaging, and joyful environment where elementary-aged children can learn, play, and grow through enriching activities, games, projects, and positive relationships.

Whether during our after-school Extended Day Program or our exciting Summer Camps, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working alongside a collaborative and supportive team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate activities, games, and projects.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Supervise students during indoor and outdoor activities, lunch, snack, and recess.
  • Foster students' social, emotional, and personal growth through positive relationships.
  • Use positive behavior management strategies and support students with a variety of learning needs.
  • Communicate professionally with families, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • Follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Assist with school operations, including lunch supervision, student transportation from nearby schools (when assigned), front office support, and special events.
  • Help prepare, organize, and clean activity spaces and materials.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • College coursework in Education or Child Development is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with children in a school, camp, or childcare setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with elementary-aged children in a fun, active environment.
  • Pediatric CPR certification (or willingness to obtain through Kids Connection) and successful background clearance required.

Schedule:

School Year (September–Early June)

  • Extended Day Program: Monday–Friday
  • Program hours: 11:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Up to 6-hour shifts (maximum 25 hours per week)

Summer (Mid-June–August)

  • Monday–Friday
  • Program hours: 7:30 AM–6:00 PM
  • 7–8 hour shifts with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break

Applicants must be available for at least two consecutive months during the summer camp season.
