Job Summary:

The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Before and After School Counselor to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children in our afterschool program. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with youth and committed to fostering their social, emotional, and physical development.


Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and engage children in a variety of activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and educational programs.

- Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages participation and teamwork.

- Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning and personal growth.

- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.

- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding children's progress and any concerns.

- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized program space.

- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is a plus.

- Previous experience working with children in a group setting, preferably in an afterschool or camp environment.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

- Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude.

- DCF 45 hours preferred.

- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred or must be obtained within first 30 days.

Must pass drug test and Level 2 Background Check.
