Job description

Aerial Construction Technician
Central Dispatch Company LLC, dba Connect/One is a utility telecommunication company seeking Aerial Splicer / Construction Technicians to fill full-time positions in the Fredericksburg VA Area. This Position includes a competitive salary, based upon experience. EOE.
The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Responsibilities Include:
  • Building strand, bonds, risers, anchors, down guys, lashing cables and fiber, etc.
  • Placing and lashing coax or fiber
  • Placing self-support cable and inner duct
  • Placing and replacing Power Supplies, modules, batteries, etc.
  • Coax and Fusion/Ribbon Fiber Splicing
  • Ability to do "Make Ready"
  • Willing to work overnight hours 1AM - 6AM for splicing active plant (as needed basis)
  • Laying and installing all cables in compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and customer specifications
  • Climbing utility poles and/or using Bucket truck or ladder (in some cases) to place cables on pole, per system design and specifications
  • Performing safety evaluations and testing work for quality
  • Maintaining a safe, clean work environment and comply with all safety requirements
  • Maintaining and handling all tools, equipment and assets safely and responsibly
  • Capable of working in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions
  • Complete accurate and detailed logs, records and dailies
  • Knowledge and awareness of safety policies for protecting yourself, team and the public at all times.

Requirements:
  • Previous communication line experience required - 2 years aerial line experience preferred.
  • Familiar with CATV and telephone company prints/specifications
  • Knowledge and ability to operate bucket truck
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required
  • Must possess valid driver's license and pass a DOT physical examination
  • Punctuality and preparedness to work a normal daily schedule, as well as availability to be called in for emergency work
  • All employees must successfully meet training requirements within the first 30 days of employment.

EDUCATION: Successful applicant should have a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Speaking a second language is helpful, though not required.
