New Mexico Boring is a rapidly growing underground utility and telecommunications contractor specializing in fiber optic construction, directional drilling, aerial construction, electrical infrastructure, and utility services throughout New Mexico and West Texas. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship, safety, and delivering projects on schedule for our customers.

As we continue to expand, we are looking for experienced, dependable Linemen who take pride in building the infrastructure that keeps communities connected.

Position Summary

The Lineman (Aerial Construction) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial fiber optic and coaxial cable systems. This position performs strand installation, lashing, hardware installation, pole transfers, aerial cable placement, and assists with all phases of aerial telecommunications construction while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.

This is a full-time field position working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install strand, anchors, guy wire, aerial hardware, and messenger cable.
  • Perform lashing and overlashing of fiber optic and coaxial cable.
  • Install aerial fiber and coax distribution systems.
  • Perform pole transfers and attachment relocations.
  • Safely operate bucket trucks and aerial construction equipment.
  • Climb utility poles when required.
  • Read construction prints and follow project specifications.
  • Maintain proper cable clearances in accordance with NESC standards.
  • Perform daily inspections of trucks, trailers, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites.
  • Identify and report safety concerns immediately.
  • Work closely with project supervisors and construction crews.
  • Complete work efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Previous aerial telecommunications construction experience preferred.
  • Experience with fiber optic and/or coaxial cable installation.
  • Experience operating bucket trucks.
  • Pole climbing experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds or more on a regular basis.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL preferred or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to pass background check, motor vehicle record review, and drug screening.
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.
  • Safety-focused attitude.
