Job description

Rise Analytics is a data and analytics technology company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Trellance, focused on helping financial institutions unlock the full value of their data. Through its cloud-native analytics platform, Rise enables credit unions and banks to integrate, analyze, and activate data across the organization to drive smarter decisions, improve member experiences, and accelerate growth. The platform combines a modern data lakehouse architecture with advanced analytics, AI-driven predictive models, and purpose-built solutions for marketing, lending, finance, and risk. Rise Analytics serves a growing network of financial institutions and partners that rely on its technology to transform data into actionable intelligence.

Overall responsibility: The AVP, Business Intelligence will lead the development and evolution of the enterprise BI platform. This role is responsible for driving data-informed decision-making across the organization by delivering scalable, high-impact analytics solutions built on Power BI and a modern cloud data stack. The AVP BI is a hands-on leader who can architect solutions, review and contribute to code, and roll up their sleeves alongside the team to ship.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Power BI Platform Leadership

  • Own the enterprise Power BI environment, including workspace governance, capacity management, and deployment pipelines.
  • Establish and enforce BI governance standards: row-level security, dataset certification, naming conventions, and access controls.
  • Define and manage Premium/Fabric capacity allocations and monitor platform health and usage.
  • Drive adoption of Power BI best practices across development teams and business stakeholders.

Agentic AI & the Future of BI

  • Collaborate with Engineering to build agent-driven and app-based analytics solutions that go beyond traditional reporting.
  • Stay current on Microsoft Fabric, Copilot for Power BI — evaluate and adopt capabilities that improve delivery speed and output quality.
  • Continuously refine and contribute to agents and skills within the organization's codebase — improving reusability, quality, and the team's collective AI capability over time.

Data Modeling & Semantic Layer

  • Take ownership in the enterprise semantic layer across Snowflake and Power BI — with Snowflake serving as the authoritative source of business data and Power BI datasets delivering that truth to decision-makers.
  • Partner with data engineering on Snowflake data models and dbt transformations to ensure BI-ready data structures.
  • Define standards for DAX, calculated measures, and dimensional modeling across the BI layer.

Team Leadership & Product Engagement

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of BI developers and analysts — setting technical standards and actively participating in code and model reviews.
  • Contribute directly to development when needed: building semantic models, writing DAX, and delivering solutions alongside the team.
  • Own and manage the BI backlog — prioritizing work across multiple teams, driving estimation, and ensuring capacity is aligned to business priorities.
  • Partner with the product team to identify analytics needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
  • Champion an agentic mindset across the team — actively participating in the community of practice, coaching team members on AI-driven approaches, and supporting the development of shared skills and agents.

BI DevOps & Delivery

  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for Power BI report and dataset deployments using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Apply version control and automated testing practices to BI development workflows.
  • Define and enforce development standards, code review processes, and release management for the BI team.
  • Lead sprint planning, work estimation, and delivery forecasting across BI development efforts — maintaining visibility into velocity and cross-team dependencies.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited college or university plus a minimum of eight (8) years of experience in the specific or related field, with a minimum of three (3) years of management experience role OR High School Diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of twelve (12) years of experience in the field and a minimum of three (3) years of management experience. Prefer Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in IT, Business Management, Computer Science.

Preferred Skills:

  • Significant hands-on Power BI experience — semantic model design, DAX, workspace governance, Premium/Fabric capacity management, and deployment pipelines (our current enterprise platform).
  • Proven track record leading an enterprise BI function — from platform strategy through execution and stakeholder adoption.
  • Preferred experience with dbt and Snowflake — modern ELT patterns and semantic layer design.
  • Working knowledge of agentic AI frameworks and their application to proactive, conversational, and self-service analytics.
  • Strategic perspective on BI and reporting — able to define and evolve a reporting vision while remaining adaptable as AI reshapes the landscape, with a clear focus on building world-class analytics solutions that directly serve client needs.
  • Prior hands-on development experience — background as a BI developer or data engineer with the ability to contribute to and review code, not just oversee it.
  • Comfort operating as a player-coach: setting technical direction while remaining active in development, troubleshooting, and delivery.
  • Strong SQL and data modeling skills — dimensional modeling, star schemas, and BI-ready data structures.
  • Proven ability to influence senior leadership and translate complex data concepts into business value.
  • Building data literacy programs for clients
