Professionals must be prepared to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently, sometimes outside of standard business hours. Additionally, adhering to rigorous security and compliance protocols is essential, as datacenters handle sensitive data for organizations. Teamwork and clear communication with network engineers, security specialists, and facility managers are crucial for keeping operations smooth and minimizing downtime.

What is a datacenter?

A datacenter is a specialized facility that houses computer systems, servers, networking equipment, and storage infrastructure. These centers provide centralized locations for the collection, storage, management, and dissemination of data and applications. Datacenters are critical for supporting the IT operations of businesses, organizations, and online services, ensuring high availability, security, and reliability. They often have advanced cooling, power backup, and physical security systems to protect the equipment and data. Companies may operate their own datacenters or use third-party providers for colocation or cloud services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Data Center Technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Data Center Technician, you need strong knowledge of computer hardware, networking, and power/cooling systems, often supported by an associate degree or relevant certifications like CompTIA Server+. Job description

ย
About the role

As theย AIย Infrastructureย Supply Chain Lead, you will be the strategic architect of our global AI infrastructure supply chain. You will lead the end-to-end sourcing for high-performanceย computeย (HPC) and sovereign AI cloud platforms. This role requires a rare blend ofย deep technical fluencyย in NVIDIA architectures andย aggressive commercial acumenย to ensure supply continuity in a volatile global semiconductor market.ย

Location. This role is office-based at our Bellevue, Washingtonย office.ย

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Strategic Sourcing & Vendor Ecosystem:ย Identify, vet, and manage Tier 1/2 OEMs and regional distributors for high-density servers, network gear, and cabling.ย Build a resilient multi-vendor strategy to eliminate single points of failure.ย
  • Commercial Leadership:ย Drive end-to-end contract lifecycles, including Master Purchase Agreements (MPAs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and complex warranty/support negotiations.ย
  • Technical Risk & Inventory Management:ย Monitorย global semiconductor trends to mitigate long-lead-time risks. Support Solution Engineering by ensuring "just-in-time" inventory of mission-critical hardware (GPUs, NICs, Switches).ย
  • Cross-Functional Roadmap Alignment:ย Partner with Systems Engineering and Architecture teams to translate technical specs into scalable, multi-year procurement roadmaps.ย
  • System Integration Support:ย Oversee the procurement and delivery of integrated components, includingย NVIDIA Grace CPUs,ย NVLink,ย InfiniBand, andย ConnectX-8ย technologies.ย
  • Sovereign AI & Compliance:ย Architect procurement workflows that satisfy stringent security, data residency, and national compliance requirements for Sovereign AI cloud deployments.ย

Required Qualifications

  • Education:ย Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, orย a relatedย technical STEM field.ย
  • HPC Expertise:ย 5+ years of experience in high-performance computing (HPC) or hyperscale datacenter procurement environments.ย
  • NVIDIA Tech Fluency:ย Deep understanding ofย NVIDIA Blackwell (GB200/GB300)ย architectures, including the performance characteristics ofย NVLinkย andย NVLinkย Switch systems for AI training and inference.ย
  • Systems Knowledge:ย Foundational understanding of theย hardware-softwareย stack, including operating systems, device drivers, and firmware versioning.ย
  • Strategic Communication:ย Ability to bridge the gap between technical engineering requirements and executive-level financial/commercial constraints.ย

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Global Logistics:ย Proven experience navigating regional distributor landscapes inย APAC and EMEA.ย
  • Modular Infrastructure:ย Experience with rack-level integration for modular orย Edge datacenter deployments.ย
  • AI Workload Optimization:ย Practical knowledge of how hardware specifications impact specific AI workloads (LLM training vs. low-latency inference).ย

Compensation

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets.ย

  • Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $130,800 - $163,500ย
  • Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $113,700 - $142,000

Final compensation will beย determinedย by experience, scope, and level, and may vary from the posted range.ย

In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).
