About the team

You will be joining the team of Solution Architects for Payments Networks, the group accountable for architecting and modernizing solutions within Payment Solutions at FIS. We are currently engineering cutting-edge solutions that will transform the shopping experience through real-time purchase intelligence.

What you will be doing

As a Senior Data Architect, you will define and guide the technical architecture of complex software platforms and enterprise-scale solutions. You will partner with engineering, product, security, and business stakeholders to ensure technology decisions align with strategic objectives, scalability requirements, and operational excellence goals.

This role focuses on driving architectural standards, modernizing technology ecosystems, and enabling high-performing development teams. Success is measured by solution quality, system reliability, business value delivery, and long-term technology sustainability.

In this role, you will

  • Design and govern enterprise data architectures that support scalability, resiliency, security, and performance objectives.

  • Define technical roadmaps and architecture strategies aligned with business priorities and product direction.

  • Lead architecture reviews and provide technical guidance across multiple development teams and initiatives.

  • Establish architectural standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve business outcomes and operational efficiency.

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver integrated software solutions.

  • Ensure data solutions meet regulatory, security, compliance, and risk management requirements.

  • Mentor engineers and technical leaders, fostering architectural excellence and knowledge sharing.

  • Identify technical debt, modernization opportunities, and continuous improvement initiatives across platforms.

What you bring

  • Strong knowledge of the Databricks product, architecture, and related ecosystem.

  • Demonstrated expertise in designing data solutions using a medallion architecture, processing pipelines, and connectors.

  • Strong knowledge of data architecture principles, design patterns, and data integration approaches.

  • Experience with cloud platforms, cloud data technologies, and modern data architectures.

  • Proficiency in PySpark programming.

  • Experience building secure, scalable, highly available, and maintainable software solutions.

  • Strong understanding of SQL and noSQL technologies, and expertise in architecting solutions using the most appropriate technology for a particular set of requirements.

  • Ability to troubleshoot database performance issues and design appropriate resolutions.

  • Ability to influence technical decisions and communicate architecture strategies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus if you have

  • Experience building AI solutions on Databricks.

  • Experience with Azure CosmosDB and AWS DynamoDB.

  • Experience within financial services, fintech, payments, banking, or capital markets environments.

  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
