Your Role on Our Team:
As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you'll help design and deliver trusted reporting solutions that power decision-making across the Finance Team. You'll work closely with business partners within Finance to gather requirements, provide ongoing support, and offer consultation on how to best leverage data to answer their questions. Along the way, you'll sharpen your technical skills in Power BI, SQL, and data modeling, while learning how financial data connects to the broader business. This role is focused on delivery, quality, and building a strong foundation in modern BI practices - including the responsible use of AI to accelerate insight.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
  • Data & Dashboard Development: Build reports and dashboards in Power BI that support key Finance decisions, operational visibility, and executive-level storytelling.

  • Collaborative Requirements Gathering: Partner with Finance stakeholders to translate business questions into clear reporting requirements.

  • Modeling Support: Contribute to the design of semantic models and datasets that are performant, reusable, and easy to understand.

  • Troubleshooting: Debug and resolve issues in reporting or data inconsistencies using structured investigation.

  • Agile Project Execution: Serve as a liaison to IT and participate in sprint planning, estimation, reviews, and retrospectives. Break down work into manageable deliverables aligned with business priorities.

  • Documentation: Help maintain documentation for models, metrics definitions, and reporting processes to ensure shared understanding.

  • Self-Service Support: Assist in enabling business users through clear documentation, curated datasets, and support for self-service reporting environments.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate insights, progress, and blockers clearly and regularly with cross-functional partners.

  • Data Governance & Security: Follow best practices for role-based access, data privacy, and report-level security.

  • Continuous Learning: Actively grow your BI tool expertise and share learnings with the team and cross-functional partners.

  • Leverage AI Solutions: Leverage AI-powered features in BI platforms (e.g., natural language queries, automated insights) to accelerate report creation and data storytelling.

The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • Years of Experience: 1-2 years of experience in BI development, data analytics, or data visualization roles including internship experiences.

  • BI Tool Expertise:Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Looker. Able to build interactive dashboards and maintain datasets. Experience implementing AI technologies preferred.

  • SQL:Working knowledge of SQL (joins, filters, aggregations, basic CTEs).

  • Data Modeling: Familiarity with dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schema) and semantic layers.

  • Cloud & Data Platforms:Experience with cloud environments such as Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks for data transformation and modeling.

  • Agile Experience:Comfort working within Agile processes, including sprint planning, reviews, and backlog grooming.

  • Business Acumen:Strong communication skills and growing business acumen, experience in Finance is preferred.

  • AI Curiosity: Interest in applying AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Power BI Copilot, Databricks Genie and Oracle FDI) to everyday reporting and analytics work in a responsible, governed way.

Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
  • Azure DevOps: Familiarity with Azure DevOps for managing workflows, integrating with Power BI and Databricks, and streamlining project pipelines.

  • Version Control - Git: Exposure to Git for source control and collaboration on BI/analytics assets.

  • Power Automate: Ability to automate repetitive reporting tasks within the Microsoft ecosystem.

  • Data Governance Tools: Familiarity with tools like Databricks Unity Catalog or Azure Purview for lineage, quality, and governance.

  • Finance Systems Exposure: Any exposure to Oracle Fusion, ERP data, or financial reporting concepts is a plus.

  • AI-Powered Analytics: Hands-on experience with AI features across Milwaukee Tool's stack (Copilot in Power BI, Microsoft Fabric Copilot, Databricks Genie/AI-BI, or Oracle FDI Ask Oracle) and a basic understanding of prompt design and responsible AI practices in a reporting context.
