Database Engineer
Role Summary
The Database Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, administration, and maintenance of enterprise databases supporting SSA OIG's Enterprise Information System (EIS). The individual provides database architecture, development, performance optimization, deployment, and knowledge transfer while ensuring reliable, secure, and efficient database operations across multiple database platforms.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent.

Experience
  • Minimum five (5) years of Information Technology experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years supporting an Inspector General (IG) or law enforcement agency.

Any One Certification
  • SQL Server DBA
  • PostgreSQL DBA

Responsibilities / Activities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise database solutions.
  • Develop and manage database schemas, stored procedures, and database code.
  • Support database administration, performance tuning, and deployment activities.
  • Integrate database solutions with Pega applications and enterprise systems.
  • Manage database version control and deployment processes using Bitbucket and Liquibase.
  • Implement database security, access controls, metadata management, and data standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, problem analysis, and database support throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Collaborate with development teams and provide technical briefings, research, and knowledge transfer to Government personnel.
