Job Description

Job Title: Database Engineer

Job Location: Reston VA

Duration: 12 months +

Responsibilities:ย 

Research and specify the optimal database solution(s) and/or data-oriented solution(s) in support of key technologies integrations.ย 

Design and develop the identified optimal database solution(s) and/or data-oriented solution(s).ย 

Test and certify the implemented optimal database solution(s) and/or data-oriented solution(s).ย 

Maintain source level control of all database schema or data definitions work product.ย 

Troubleshoot and resolve all defects and incidents in a timely manner.ย 

Qualifications:ย 

SQL and NOSQL databases.ย 

Hierarchical, relational and object-oriented databases (Oracle, Microsoft, MongoDB, and Cassandra).ย 

Service-oriented architecture supported by and integrated with a database(s) and/or data-oriented solution(s).ย 

Linux/Windows scripting.ย 

Application and database integration.ย 

Non-simplistic system architectures and designs.ย 

Experience working in a virtualized, cloud environment (OpenStack, KVM and supporting systems).ย 

Other qualifications:ย 

Excellent technical and scientific writing skillsย 

Highly skilled in creating technical diagrams, charts and visual presentationsย 

Ability to articulate complex details in an organized, comprehensible mannerย 

Education and experience:ย 

BS/MS in Computer Science or Information Technology, MS preferredย 

Minimum of 8 years of proven, demonstrable work history
