GDIT is looking foraDatabaseManagerto join ourNational Institutes of Health (NIH)CIT Hosting and Storage ServicesProgram.

We are seeking a forward-thinking technical leader who can inspire and develop teams while ensuring the reliable delivery of high-quality technology services. Our ideal candidate combines strong people leadership with technical insight and operational discipline, supported by experience andexpertisealigned with the team's portfolio ofsupportingOracle and Microsoft SQL database platforms and middleware technologies. This leader will provide clear direction and accountability for day-to-day operations and maintenance, service delivery, and project execution, while applying their technical understanding to guide decisions and address complex challenges. They will foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation; empower team members to grow and succeed; and work closely with customers and stakeholders to deliver meaningful results. The successful candidate will balance operational excellence with modernization, ensuring the team delivers reliably today while continuously improving services and capabilities for the future.

This role is fully remote! May need to come to the Maryland for occasional meetings.

This role will require you to obtain andmaintaina Public Trust and will require you to provide onsite fingerprinting at a designated facility. This investigation may review personal and criminal behavior, financial conduct, foreign influence, as well as other adjudications.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day oversight for your team by delegating and prioritizing task execution, resolving roadblocks, and ensuring execution is efficient andtimelyfor the delivery of alldatabaseservices.
  • In partnership with federal and program leadership,be a subject matter expert andoversee your team's service catalog; to includeidentifyingcustomerdemands, owning and developing the technical strategy andvision, and rallying your team to turn the vision into reality.
  • Work closely with Project Managers/Scrum Masters to ensure transparent communications on project timelines, project execution, resource requirements, risk management, and status reporting.Occasionally step into project manager roleyou'reyour team'sstrategic projects based on need.
  • Drive innovation and incorporatecontinuous improvementactivities into your team's execution to deliver new services and new ways of working to keep pace with futurecustomerdemands.
  • Oversee personnel management including staff recruitment, hiring, performance management, training, and mentoring for all team members.
  • Provide oversight for incidents, coordinating with resolution parties andestablishingeffective communication between stakeholders during and after closure of the incident to include after-action reporting.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS/BA and8+ years of experience, or equivalent experience, in an IT-related discipline.
  • Experience overseeing a portfolio of technology services and leading a technical team's day-to-day execution, including operations and maintenance,cloud migrations,service delivery, and project activities.
  • People management experience, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, professional development, training, and mentoring a team of engineers.
  • Experience leading technical projects and initiatives from planning through successful delivery.
  • Broad hands-on experience and technical knowledge acrossenterprise database and middleware technologies including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and supporting middle platformssuch as WebLogic for both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Demonstrated technicalexpertisewith enterprise database technologies,includingexperience designing,operating, troubleshooting,migrating,andoptimizingcomplex enterprise environments.
  • Experience modernizinga team'stechnology services and delivery practices to improve efficiency, accelerate delivery, enhance customer experience, and reduce manual effort through standardization, automation, and emerging technologies such as AI.
  • Experience applying Agile and project management practices to manage priorities and backlogs,facilitateScrum or similar delivery processes, and drive technical initiatives through completion.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL principles and practices, including incident, problem, service request, change, and service level management.
  • Experience analyzing complex technical and operational issues,providingtechnical guidance, and leading teams through problem resolution.
  • Strong customer and stakeholder engagement experience, with the ability to translate technical issues, risks, and recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Relevant industry certifications inRHEL,Solaris, Unix, cloud technologies, ITIL, Agile, or project management.
    • Experience supporting technology services within a federal government, healthcare, or similarly regulated environment.

    The likely salary range for this position is $142,792 - $166,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
