Job description

Job Summary

The Oracle Developer is responsible for the development, enhancement, and operational support of enterprise-level customer applications and integrations using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL. This role works as part of an application team and focuses on creating reliable, maintainable, performant, and supportable Oracle database logic that supports business-critical applications and integration solutions.

The position collaborates closely with application developers, data modelers, database administrators, and business stakeholders to develop, optimize, and support Oracle-based application functionality. The role requires strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills, application support experience, performance tuning capability, effective communication, and the ability to support both project delivery and operational stability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develops, enhances, and supports Oracle database objects and application logic, including SQL queries, PL/SQL procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and related database components.
Works closely with application developers to provide database logic, stored procedures, data access patterns, and backend functionality consumed by application services and user-facing systems.
Collaborates with data modelers and database administrators to understand data structures, relationships, constraints, and database design impacts on application functionality.
Reviews, tunes, and optimizes SQL and PL/SQL code to improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Supports data integrity through validation logic, transaction handling, error handling, and consistent database development practices.
Provides application support for Oracle-based functionality, including issue investigation, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and implementation of reliable resolutions.
Supports release activities, code migrations, and post-deployment validation for Oracle database changes as needed.
Participates in code reviews, testing, documentation, and deployment readiness activities to ensure Oracle development work is understandable and supportable by the broader team.
Works with business stakeholders and technical team members to clarify requirements, analyze issues, explain system behavior, and support continuous improvement of customer application and integration solutions.

 Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience developing and supporting Oracle SQL and PL/SQL solutions.
Experience developing stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, complex queries, and database-backed business logic.
Experience troubleshooting Oracle-based application issues in production or business-critical environments.
Experience with SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning, query optimization, execution plan review, and performance troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of relational database concepts, data relationships, constraints, indexes, transaction handling, and application data models.
Ability to collaborate with data modelers and database administrators to understand and support data model impacts without directly owning data modeling responsibilities.
Experience using Azure DevOps for work item tracking, development collaboration, or release support.
Experience using Git for source control, branching, merging, and version management.
Experience using Oracle SQL Developer for Oracle development, troubleshooting, query execution, and database object review.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Strong analytical and root-cause troubleshooting skills.
Strong written, verbal, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented application development environment.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, support production needs as required, and adapt to changing business requirements and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with .NET or other application development environments that consume Oracle database logic.
Experience supporting integration-related database logic, data feeds, batch jobs, scheduled processes, or system-to-system data exchange.
Experience with enterprise-level customer applications, customer-facing systems, or business-critical integration solutions.
Experience with Oracle database monitoring tools or application performance monitoring tools.
Oracle, Microsoft, or other relevant technical certifications.
