Job Summary:

The General Manager oversees daily operations, staff, and financial performance to ensure a high-quality, helpful customer experience. Key duties include recruiting/training staff, managing inventory (stocking and ordering), driving sales, and maintaining store appearance. The General Manager is a community leader, implementing safety standards and promoting a culture of service. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Superior Customer Service & Sales: Lead the team to provide top tier, "helpful" service.
  • Resolve customer complaints and difficult situations professionally.
  • Achieve or exceed sales targets.
  • Oversee stock levels, ordering, receiving, and price changes to ensure a clean, stocked, and well-organized, "world class" store.
  • Directs shipping, receiving and inventory flow for the store.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise employees, including setting schedules, conducting performance reviews, and fostering career growth.
  • Manage daily opening/closing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety/health regulations.
  • Performs bookkeeping and payroll functions, overseeing all store expenses.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, policies and procedures.
  • Follows the ACE programs/promotions.
  • Address customer complaints and resolve problems.
  • Actively participate in local community events, such as fairs or chambers of commerce. 
  • Ensure the store remains clean and presentable at all times.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of retail management experience.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, stand/walk for up to 8 hours, and manage physical inventory.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and basic computer skills for inventory management systems. 

 Work Environment:

  • Varied schedules include nights, weekend, and holidays
  • Position requires bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Position routinely requires lifting, loading, and "dollying" merchandise 25-100 pounds.
