Job description 

  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server environments, with exposure to Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • Handle database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migrations across on-prem and AWS Cloud (EC2/RDS).
  • Implement and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (HA/DR) strategies.
  • Conduct performance tuning, query optimization, and index management to improve database efficiency.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams for release deployments, environment refreshes, and configuration management.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues impacting applications or infrastructure and provide root cause analysis.
  • Automate recurring tasks and monitoring using PowerShell, Python, or scripting tools.
  • Manage security, user access, audit trails, and compliance reporting.
  • Work closely with developers and DevOps teams to ensure smooth CI/CD integration and database change management.
  • Maintain accurate runbooks, documentation, and operational dashboards.

Skills & Experience

  • Core Expertise: Microsoft SQL Server (2016+), Always On, Replication, Backup/Restore, Performance Tuning, SSIS/SSRS.
  • Additional Exposure: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, AWS RDS, AWS EC2, and Aurora.
  • Experience working with both application teams (for deployments, schema changes) and infrastructure teams (for performance, patching, monitoring).
  • Familiarity with automation and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, DataDog, SolarWinds, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of security, HA/DR, backup policies, and ITIL processes.
