Job description

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an experienced senior Storage Database Lead Engineer to join our national intelligence program in Northern Virginia that delivers engineering, application development, deployment, operations, upgrades and sustainment of products and services to achieve our client's global missions. 

The candidate must have demonstrated experience in conceptual thinking and analytical skills to analyze complex problems for resolutions that include interrelationships and dependencies to identify common themes and solutions. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Implement and optimize the computerized database systems that support the customer infrastructure.  
  • Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.  
  • Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases.  
  • Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendation regarding enhancements and/or improvements.  
  • Maintain security and integrity controls.  
  • Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.  
  • Administer a variety of database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server, and other Database Management Systems (DBMS).  
  • Develop and enforce database administration and user standards and procedures; audits, modifies, and amends data in systems using SQL commands.  
  • Oversee the scheduling of database projects, database and transaction log backups, notifications, and database replication between multiple SQL Servers and remote sites.  
  • Support the development and creation of SQL and web-based databases and database systems.  
  • Review technical designs, reports, documentation, and other technical materials produced by the program. 
  • Create and maintain high-level reporting systems using products such as Crystal Reports; researches and implements new database and online technology. 
  • Provide technical support and consultation in the review and acceptance of deliverables related to the system platform modernization. 
  • Perform database directory maintenance. 
  • Evaluate the database environment, document its function and create diagrams of its interactions to support platform modernization and Database as a Service (DBaaS). 
  • Support numerous databases, maintain copybooks to coincide with database changes, manage Views, that facilitate interaction with database files. 
  • Manage, maintain and secure the customer's data storage systems. 
  • Ensure high data storage availability, performance, and compliance. 
  • Enforce data security policies, manage access permissions and ensure data integrity 
  • Design storage solutions, leads projects, optimize performance and mentor team. 
  • Serve as the Storage/Database Team Lead 

**Position is Contingent on Contract Award** 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret/ Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance with ability to pass a  Poly clearance. 
  • Minimum of 12 years of work experience with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; preferably with a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.  
  • Proven work experience as a Database Administrator or similar role. 
  • Good problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong working knowledge of quality assurance methodologies. 
  • Ability to follow complex instructions, work independently, or function in a team as needed. 
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for full product development life-cycle desired. 
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, organize and manage multiple tasks efficiently. 
  • Ability to effectively present to and interact with all levels of management. 
  • Highly adaptive and flexible to a changing environment. 
  • CISSP or Security+ Certification required.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly clearances. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365, MS Windows, z/OS, JCL, Visio, COBOL, Cincom SUPRA PDM and Cincom MANTIS (Total-File-Views) and Storage Management. 

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  

This Position requires an Active TS/SCI and the ability to obtain a Poly, US Citizenship is required 

 To hold this clearance.

Target Salary Range$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
