Job description

The Purchasing Internship position provides a unique opportunity for the intern to gain exposure to a Purchasing/Supply chain team, with responsibilities of assisting in a variety of functional areas, such as planning, buying, manufacturing, purchasing process, project management, strategy, and logistics and be primarily responsible for assisting the purchasing supply chain team on daily production projects. The position will assist the purchasing and expediting staff in daily tasks including, but not limited to the following: data collection; web-based research; report writing;maintating databases; data entry; preparing presentations, and various projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide support for the Purchasing team with data entry, research, contacting suppliers, updating systems 
  • Learn and execute purchasing processes to best support purchasing and manufacturing functions
  • Acquire purchasing techniques to analyze inventory, demand, stocking levels and location
  • Confirm, track and manage supplier delivery schedules for production & aftermarket parts on a weekly basis
  • Generate, update, and maintain ERP parameters
  • Resolve issues with materials that impact product schedules
  • Assist with vendor communication and reporting
  • Data management projects
  • Provide clerical & administrative support as needed to the assigned departments
  • Responsible to analyze  various weekly and daily reports and execute actions to ensure goals are met
  • Responsible to enter data in various databases, including tracking, invoice & shipping information into PO’s
  • Expedite parts that are out of stock, on back order, and or over due
  • Review and maintain supply, production and stock levels to maintain required levels 
  • Process Trucks that are  out of service requests
  • Assist departments in various projects
  • Perform all work with a high degree of accuracy and to keep pace with the flow of work.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Curent college student with a major in Business, Supply Chain Management, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or any related field
  • Efficient use of computers with excellent  10key pad skills
  • Microsoft Office application knowledge and proficiency. 
  • Detailed-oriented with an ability to analyze and understand large volumes of data
  • Proficient with large spreadsheets
  • Communicate well, both orally and written.
  • Ability to work independently and analyze procedures and problems
  • Detailed oriented
  • Must be able to work in the US indefinitely without sponsorship now or in the future
