What is a database associate?

Database Associates are professionals responsible for managing, maintaining, and updating databases within an organization. They ensure data integrity, assist with data entry and retrieval, and support database development and reporting tasks. Their role often includes collaborating with IT teams, troubleshooting database issues, and optimizing database performance to support business operations.

What are some of the most common challenges a database associate faces when maintaining data integrity across multiple systems?

Database Associates often encounter challenges when ensuring data accuracy and consistency across various platforms, especially as organizations integrate new software or migrate data. Common issues include managing duplicate records, syncing updates in real-time, and handling discrepancies between legacy and modern systems. To overcome these hurdles, Database Associates typically rely on robust data validation protocols, regular audits, and close collaboration with IT and data analytics teams. Staying current on best practices and understanding the organization's specific data flow is key to maintaining high data integrity.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a database associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Database Associate, you need a solid understanding of database management, data entry accuracy, and familiarity with relational database systems, typically supported by a degree in information technology or related field. Proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Access, and common database management systems like Oracle or MySQL is often required. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication help ensure data integrity and smooth collaboration with team members. These skills and qualities are crucial for maintaining reliable, accurate databases that support efficient business operations.

What is the difference between Database Associate vs Data Analyst?

Associate - Operations

Beedie

Vancouver, BC

CA$70K - CA$90K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 8 days ago

Job description

Beedie Capital is a multi-strategy direct investment platform that manages the alternative investments and assets for Beedie, one of the most established private enterprises in Western Canada. We combine the strategic capabilities of an institutional investment platform with the flexibility and entrepreneurial mindset of a privately owned business, having successfully deployed over $1 billion in capital in the last 5 years.

As the platform continues to scale, operational excellence and disciplined execution are critical to long-term performance. The Operations team plays a central role in building and maintaining the systems, processes, and infrastructure that support that growth.

Position Overview

This role sits at the center of the firm's operating infrastructure. You will manage our CRM environment day-to-day, maintain reporting discipline across the business, and execute the processes that support our investment, people, and go-to-market functions. The skillset mirrors what you would find in a strong revenue operations professional, but the scope is broader. You will operate across every function of the firm, not just sales.

The work spans CRM operations, reporting, project execution, and cross-functional process management. You will drive clarity, accountability, and follow-through across multiple concurrent workstreams. This is a role for someone who finds satisfaction in keeping systems clean, data accurate, and processes running.

You will be expected to leverage AI tools to improve how you work. We are actively building AI into the firm's operations, and this role will be on the front line of applying those tools day-to-day.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Marketing Ops
  • Operate HubSpot day-to-day: reporting, data hygiene, workflow automation, and pipeline tracking
  • Build and maintain dashboards that surface pipeline health, conversion metrics, and campaign performance
  • Keep marketing materials organized, accessible, and current across the team
  • Identify and flag manual workflows that could be automated to improve efficiency
Investment Ops
  • Operate HubSpot deal tracking on the investment side, ensuring clean data from sourcing through close
  • Manage project management workflows and task tracking for deal execution, process implementations, and cross-functional initiatives
  • Maintain SharePoint document structure, governance, and accessibility of key investment documents
  • Maintain data integrity across all operational systems (HubSpot, ClickUp, SharePoint)
  • Execute on new system implementations and process changes, driving timelines and stakeholder accountability
People Ops
  • Build and maintain a hiring database to support recruiting operations and candidate tracking
  • Develop and maintain a structured onboarding process
Reporting & Data
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on time and with consistent accuracy
  • Assemble final deliverables across all data sources, including Addepar outputs from other team members
  • Serve as the central data steward for the business - ensure data is clean, consistent, and reliable across all systems
  • Improve and promote routine data entry standards across the team
  • Use AI tools to accelerate report generation, data cleaning, and identification of inconsistencies across systems.
Ad Hoc & Operational Support
  • Provide operational follow-through on ad hoc initiatives, including task tracking, status updates, and accountability loops
  • Continuously improve how you execute within existing systems, including thoughtful use of AI tools where appropriate
Desired Skills and Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in operations, strategy & operations, revenue operations, or a similarly analytical execution role
  • Strong CRM experience (HubSpot preferred), including workflow configuration and reporting
  • Demonstrated comfort using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) to improve speed and accuracy in operational work.
  • Proven experience improving funnel visibility, reporting, or forecasting processes
  • Track record of executing structured processes and driving accountability across teams
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-first approach to problem-solving
  • Experience managing projects using tools such as ClickUp, Asana, or similar
  • High attention to detail, ownership mindset, and comfort operating with sensitive information
  • Bias towards action, with a preference for executing and refining over waiting for perfect conditions

We thank all candidates for their interest but only those applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. No telephone calls or recruitment agencies will be accepted.

$70,000 - $90,000 a year

We value your interest in Beedie Capital.  While we can only respond to shortlisted applicants, we will keep your information on file and consider you for future opportunities as they come available.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans. If you would like more information about how your data is processed, please contact us.
