Job description

Are you a data leader ready to shape how the world's most innovative companies harness their data in the cloud - and prepare it for the agentic AI era. If you have deep expertise across relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing and lakehouse architectures, real-time event processing, and cloud storage - and a passion for solving complex, large-scale data challenges alongside customers - this is the role for you.
As Director of the worldwide Database, Analytics & Storage Solutions Architecture team at AWS, you will lead a global organization of specialist solutions architects who drive technical customer engagement, solution design, and adoption across AWS's data portfolio. Your team will serve as the technical counterpart to the Database, Analytics & Storage go-to-market organization - partnering directly with service team engineering leaders, field sales, and customer executives to accelerate data-driven transformation.
This is a role for a leader who combines deep technical expertise with strategic business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to inspire a large, distributed team

You will set the vision for how AWS helps customers migrate, modernize, and unlock the value of their data at scale.
Key job responsibilities
Lead a worldwide team of specialist solutions architects and AWS Data technical field SME community members across AMER, EMEA, and APJ
Set the technical vision for customer engagement across AWS's broad and deep spectrum of data services including Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache, Redshift, EMR, S3, MSK, and OpenSearch
Drive measurable business impact through technical customer engagement, solution design, and hands-on architecture guidance that accelerates workload adoption
Serve as the technical counterpart to the Database, Analytics & Storage GTM leader, aligning SA strategy with business priorities
Partner with VP-level engineering leaders across database, analytics, storage, and search service teams to influence product roadmap through structured closed-loop feedback
Engage CxO-level executives at strategic customers (VP Engineering, CTO, CDO) to shape their data and AI strategies
Build durable mechanisms including migration & modernization playbooks, competitive technical response guides, POC frameworks, and AI-powered tools to scale SA knowledge and productivity
Develop thought leadership through technical content, conference keynotes, reference architectures, and community engagement
Leverage AI and agentic technologies to build automated architecture assessments, migration planning tools, and intelligent assistance that amplifies SA effectiveness
Own strategic planning for Data & Analytics GTM initiatives and serve as a trusted advisor to Directors and VPs on data technology trends, market opportunities, and competitive positioning
Serve as a globally recognized evangelist and thought leader for AWS Data & Analytics solutions through keynote speaking, white papers, reference architectures, and AWS Blogs
Architect advanced customer solutions for Real Time and Batch-based Big Data processing, Business Intelligence, NoSQL, and Machine Learning; demonstrate viability through proof-of-concepts and establish company standards for data architecture best practices
Craft compelling audience-specific content (product videos, customer success stories, demos, presentations, how-to guides) and serve as technical liaison between customers and engineering teams
Lead and develop a global team of Data & Analytics Solutions Architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation
Create operational mechanisms to address recurring escalation patterns, reduce bureaucracy, and actively lead the broader SA community
Collaborate with AWS field sales, professional services, engineering, and product management teams to shape product vision, develop best practices, and drive partner go-to-market strategies
Lead large multi-org or global initiatives that drive significant business impact across the data and analytics ecosystem
