Amentum is seeking a full-time Senior Database Administrator to support a Department of War (DoW) customer in Spokane, Washington. The successful candidate will provide enterprise database administration and SharePoint infrastructure support in a secure DoW environment. This position requires extensive experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, SharePoint 2019 on-premises, Windows Server technologies, cybersecurity compliance, and enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise, excellent troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a highly structured mission-focused environment.
Main Responsibilities:
Database Administration
  • Install, configure, administer, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2019 - 2025 environments across development, test, and production systems.
  • Design, implement, and support secure, highly available database solutions.
  • Monitor database health, performance, and capacity; perform query tuning, index optimization, and routine maintenance.
  • Manage database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle activities.
  • Configure and maintain high availability technologies including Always On Availability Groups and failover clustering.
  • Implement database security through access controls, encryption, auditing, and STIG compliance.
  • Troubleshoot database performance, connectivity, replication, and integrity issues.
  • Develop automation scripts using PowerShell and T-SQL to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with developers on database design, schema changes, stored procedures, and application performance optimization.
  • Create custom reports based on customer requirements.

SharePoint Administration
  • Administer and support SharePoint Server 2019 on-premises environments, including installation, configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Manage SharePoint farms, site collections, service applications, content databases, permissions, and Active Directory integration.
  • Support SharePoint customizations using ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET MVC, C#, CSOM, and SharePoint Server APIs.
  • Configure and maintain document libraries, lists, workflows, and enterprise collaboration features.
  • Perform SharePoint backup, restoration, disaster recovery testing, and system maintenance.
  • Provide technical support to site owners and end users while resolving SharePoint-related issues.

Security, Operations & Collaboration
  • Apply DoD STIGs, RMF security controls, vulnerability remediation, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Monitor system availability and participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and change management activities.
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions and implementation plans.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, standard operating procedures, and architecture diagrams.
  • Collaborate with system administrators, network engineers, developers, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to support mission objectives.
  • Provide technical mentoring, knowledge transfer, and occasional after-hours support during maintenance windows or operational requirements.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have an active Top Secret US Government Clearance with SCI eligibility. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a Top Secret Clearance.
  • 7 or more years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint 2016/2019 in an enterprise on-premises environment; or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Meet DoD 8140 advanced level workforce qualification requirements.
  • Strong experience administering Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, backup and recovery, high availability, and security.
  • Strong experience with SharePoint Server 2016/2019 administration and enterprise farm management.
  • Experience with SharePoint Designer, InfoPath, and third-party utilities such as Quest and Bamboo.
  • Experience implementing STIGs, RMF security controls, vulnerability remediation, and DoD cybersecurity compliance.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.
  • Experience with PowerShell, T-SQL, and automation scripting.
  • Experience performing database migrations, upgrades, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity operations.
  • Experience developing database design documentation including Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), functional specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting structured testing, validation, configuration management, and change management processes.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve complex database and infrastructure issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and technical documentation, especially related to their integration with SharePoint and use of macros.
  • Ability to work independently or within a multidisciplinary technical team under demanding operational schedules.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical teams and government stakeholders.

Other requirements:
  • This is a non-remote, full-time on-site position located in Spokane, Washington.
  • Standard work schedule is 40 hours per week/8 hours per day with the occasional need to flex hours based on customer support needs.
  • Some after-hours or short-term shift work may be required to support urgent customer requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Occasional travel may be required (0-10%).
  • Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time working in an office environment.
  • Must be able to lift various sizes of materials and equipment (up to 50lbs).

Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000
