Title: Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Hybrid Cloud OCI, AWS & On-Prem)
Location: Nashville, TN
Duration: Long Term contract

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Database Administrator to manage, optimize, secure, and modernize enterprise Oracle database environments across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, and on-premises platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle database administration, cloud technologies, high availability architectures, automation, performance tuning, and disaster recovery strategies.
This role will work closely with infrastructure, application development, security, data governance, and cloud engineering teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of mission-critical database platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle Database Administration
  • Administer and support Oracle Database environments ranging from Oracle 11g through Oracle 23c.
  • Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Active Data Guard, and Multitenant (CDB/PDB) architectures.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and operational stability of enterprise database systems.
  • Perform database installations, upgrades, patching, migrations, and lifecycle management activities.
Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure Management
  • Design, deploy, and support Oracle databases within OCI environments, including Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud Service, and DB Systems.
  • Manage Oracle workloads hosted on AWS, including Oracle on EC2 and RDS for Oracle.
  • Support hybrid cloud connectivity solutions utilizing VPN, FastConnect, and Direct Connect technologies.
  • Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives across on-premises and cloud environments.
Performance Tuning & Capacity Planning
  • Monitor database performance using AWR, ASH, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), and cloud-native monitoring tools.
  • Perform SQL and PL/SQL tuning and optimize database configurations.
  • Analyze system utilization trends and develop capacity planning recommendations.
Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
  • Design and manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions using RMAN.
  • Implement and maintain disaster recovery architectures utilizing Data Guard and Active Data Guard.
  • Conduct regular disaster recovery testing and validate RPO/RTO requirements.
Security & Compliance
  • Implement database security best practices, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), access controls, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Support regulatory compliance and audit initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise security and governance standards.
Automation & DevOps
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Shell Scripting, Python, Ansible, Terraform, and OCI Resource Manager.
  • Integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Automate provisioning, patching, monitoring, and configuration management processes.
Data Governance & Quality
  • Collaborate with data governance, analytics, and engineering teams to support enterprise data initiatives.
  • Assist with metadata management, data lineage, cataloging, and data quality programs.
  • Optimize database environments to support business intelligence and analytics workloads.
Operational Support
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotations.
  • Troubleshoot critical database incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead database-related projects from planning through implementation and support.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience in enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience supporting Oracle databases on OCI, AWS, and on-premises platforms.
  • Expertise with Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, Active Data Guard, RMAN, and Multitenant architecture.
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL development and performance tuning skills.
  • Advanced Linux administration experience (Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Linux).
  • Strong Shell scripting experience and familiarity with Python automation.
  • Experience implementing database security, encryption, auditing, and compliance controls.
  • Proven experience with backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with OCI Exadata Cloud Service and Autonomous Database.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Exposure to AI-enabled database capabilities, Oracle AI features, and Large Language Model (LLM) integrations.
  • Oracle Cloud certifications and Oracle Database certifications are highly preferred.
