At BNS Networks, we design and deploy the physical layer behind modern AI and high-performance compute environments. Our team provides complete lifecycle support - from structured cabling and fiber to liquid-cooled GPU systems and ITAD - ensuring our customers' infrastructure performs when it matters most.
BNS offers a competitive and relevant benefits package that keeps our employees in mind. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), and paid time off (PTO).
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are growing and looking for a Sales Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will pair with our sales team to scope and win complex data center project bids - sitting across from the customer's engineers with the credibility to define a deployment in real time, and beside our estimating team to turn that scope into a bid we can deliver profitably.
This position offers the opportunity to work closely with sales, estimating, and customer teams while contributing to complex data center and AI infrastructure projects from bid through delivery. The preferred candidate will be located in South Carolina or the surrounding region, with the ability to travel to our Sumter, SC facility and active data center sites as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Partner with account executives on complex data center pursuits - joining discovery calls, site walks, and technical reviews as the deployment authority in the room
  • Lead technical discovery with customer engineers, network architects, and operations leaders, uncovering real requirements beyond the RFP
  • Translate customer objectives into a defensible technical scope - cabling architecture, fiber pathways, rack and row layout, and power and cooling interdependencies
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications, and develop bills of material and quantity takeoffs
  • Size and validate fiber and copper plant against bandwidth, latency, and density requirements for AI/HPC workloads
  • Build cost models with the estimating team, owning the technical assumptions behind pricing and margin
  • Author and defend the technical narrative in RFP/RFQ responses through clarification and negotiation
  • Deliver technical presentations and solution walkthroughs that build trust with sophisticated technical buyers

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • 5+ years of experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering, design, or estimating within data center, structured cabling, networking, or critical infrastructure
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from construction drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams
  • Working command of structured cabling and fiber systems - standards, media types, testing, and pathways
  • Track record pairing with sales on complex, multi-stakeholder bids
  • Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across sales, estimating, production, and customer teams
  • Willingness to travel to customer and project sites (estimated 25-40%)

EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS IS A PLUS
  • AI/HPC or hyperscale deployments - high-density racks, liquid cooling, GPU infrastructure
  • Data center power architecture (MV/LV distribution) and the interplay between power, cooling, and cabling
  • Industry certifications such as BICSI RCDD or DCDC
  • Manufacturer design certifications (e.g., CommScope, Corning, Panduit)
  • Estimating-tool and CRM proficiency
  • Experience supporting federal or defense-related infrastructure bids

WHY JOIN BNS NETWORKS?
At BNS Networks, you'll work alongside a team that values technical expertise, collaboration, and execution. Our sales and engineering teams play a direct role in delivering the infrastructure behind the AI buildout.
If you are passionate about data center infrastructure and solving complex technical challenges, we encourage you to apply.
BNS is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EEO).
