What You’ll Do


Role Overview

The Consumer Profitability & Insights (CP&I) team is looking for a Data Engineer II to help build, support, and modernize critical data products that power Retail performance management, banker productivity insights, customer engagement analytics, and enterprise data domain enablement.

CP&I partners closely with the Retail Line of Business to deliver trusted data and insights that directly support branch and banker performance. The team owns data processing that defines branch and banker profit and loss, which serves as a foundation for quarterly incentive compensation and performance management across Retail.

In addition, CP&I manages key datasets that measure banker productivity and capture interactions between bankers and customers, enabling leadership teams to better understand engagement, effectiveness, and growth opportunities.

Beyond Retail, CP&I plays an important role in partnership with IT foundational data domains by helping move, standardize, and operationalize customer-facing data from source systems into enterprise data domains. This includes high-value event data such as posted and pending transactions, customer profile updates, card connections, accounts, Zelle activity, and other critical customer interaction data.

We are looking for an engineer who is strong in SQL, experienced in data movement and transformation, and motivated to help the squad evolve from a reactive support model to a more proactive, solution-oriented engineering culture.


Primary Skills / Required Qualifications

  • Strong SQL skills — this role requires someone who is highly comfortable writing, reading, troubleshooting, and optimizing SQL.
  • Experience with data movement, ETL processes, data transformations, data testing, and validation.
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets across multiple source systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and recommend durable solutions.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn business context, data flows, and technical patterns.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative mindset.
  • Driven, self-starting approach with the ability to take ownership and move work forward.
  • Ability to balance delivery work with production support needs.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

Experience with the following is helpful but not required:

  • dbt
  • Snowflake
  • DataStage, particularly for legacy processes
