Data Scientist, Lead
The Opportunity:
As a senior data scientist, you're excited at the prospect of unlocking the secrets held by a data set, and you're fascinated by the possibilities presented by machine learning and artificial intelligence. In an increasingly connected world, massive amounts of structured and unstructured data open new opportunities. As a data scientist at Booz Allen, you can help turn these complex data sets into useful information to solve global challenges. We need you to help find the answers in the data.
On our team, you'll use your analytical skills and data science knowledge to create real-world impact. You'll work closely with your clients to understand their questions and needs and then dig into their data-rich environments to find the pieces of their information puzzle. You'll develop algorithms and systems and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn sets of disparate data points into objective answers to help clients make informed decisions. Ultimately, you'll provide a deep understanding of the data, what it all means, and how it can be used.

You Have:
  • 10+ years of experience with programming languages, including R, Python, or C, and working with structured, unstructured, or semi-structured data in support of scientific or economic analysis
  • Experience designing, developing, or leveraging relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as PostgreSQL or MS SQL
  • Experience creating software for retrieving, parsing, and processing structured and unstructured data and developing scalable ETL/ELT workflows for reporting and analytics
  • Experience programming or coding mathematical models and building workflows
  • Experience with data visualization tools and best practices
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle, testing, and version control
  • Ability to cleanse data, develop scripts and programs for converting various types of data into usable formats, and support project team to scale, monitor, and operate data platforms
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team, prioritize multiple work tasks, and deliver products on time and to quality standards
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • Master's degree

Nice If You Have:
  • Experience supporting DoD organizations
  • Experience using and deploying machine learning algorithms, including natural language processing (NLP)
  • Experience with web development frameworks, including Shiny, Django, or Flask
  • Experience with data lakes, data warehouses, or data lake houses
  • Experience with cloud services, including AWS or Azure
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment collaborating with Application Developers, Infrastructure Engineers, and stakeholders
  • Experience with CI/CD, including Git, Jenkins, and Docker
  • Experience with distributed data or computing tools such as Spark, Databricks, Hadoop, Hive, AWS EMR, or Kafka
  • Experience with NoSQL implementation using MongoDB or Cassandra
  • Experience with data warehousing, including AWS Redshift, MySQL, or Snowflake

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $112,800.00 to $257,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
