Job description

The Health Data Visualization Analyst is responsible for performing data visualization, analysis and reporting work to ensure that TRS can effectively communicate complex information regarding its health care programs. The incumbent will analyze complex data sources, develop effective data visualizations and stories, and collaborate with a variety of professionals to ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of data related communications. This position will proactively work with the Health Data Analytics team, Health Division staff, and agency employees.

This onsite position in Austin, Texas will be filled at one of two levels - Health Data Visualization Analyst or Senior Health Data Visualization Analyst. The selected candidate will be offered the position level that most closely matches their education and experience.
Salary Range:
Health Data Visualization Analyst: 73,790-92,237
Senior Health Data Visualization Analyst: 89,286-115,050
Final interviews will be conducted in person at our Austin headquarters.ย 
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Data Visualization and Reporting
Develops high-visibility presentations, reports, and briefings to executive leadership, the TRS Board of Trustees and legislative stakeholders, including narratives and talking-points to help explain and contextualize data and TRS programs.
Develops and creates models, scorecards, dashboards, and other quantitative analytical tools based on a thorough understanding of business and industry requirements. (Senior)
Coordinates with data analysts, actuaries, and communications staff to produce data needed to effectively convey insights.
Produces accessible, actionable, and timely data visualizations to promote effective decision and shared understanding among a large and varied set of audiences.
Helps design and implement data visualizations for internal plan management, including dashboards and reports related to changes in utilization and enrollment.
Coordinates and develops complex reporting for school districts in collaboration with other TRS staff.
Prepares, presents, and/or distributes routine and ad hoc reports.
Helps organize key assets, including charts, reports, and data summaries, to ensure accessibility for providing timely and consistent answers to requests.
Data Analysis
Develops queries to extract data to support decision-making.
Researches, recommends, and implements methodologies for reporting health care data and statistics including key performance indicators for program activities.
Identifies, collects, and analyzes data needed to develop reports, briefings, and presentations.
Participates in efforts to benchmark TRS program with comparators and peers including large employers, school districts, and state group health programs.
Helps identify data quality issues and participate in initiatives to improve data quality.
Assists with evaluating the Health Division's business needs related to reporting tools and assessing vendors proposals for data analysis services.
Policy Development and Stakeholder Engagement
Assists in the tracking of legislation and legislative requests and cost estimation for legislative fiscal notes.
Conducts research to help identify solutions to achieve program goals.
May assist with preparation professional papers or reports.
Reviews and analyzes various routine vendor reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Participates on special projects, task forces, and committees as needed.
Complex data modelling and dashboard development (Health Data Visualization Analyst)
Develops and maintains business data model in analysis server tabular models for use with PowerBI
Design and maintain data ingestion process to move data from data warehouse into tabular model
Create measures using DAX code in tabular model that integrate highly complex health care data, including risk scores, enrollment, claims data, and other data sources to build measures that reduce the time-to-insight across high volumes of data
Develop visualizations and analysis in PowerBI dashboards using business model and DAX measures to identify key trends and facilitate executive insight into health plans.
