About the Project:


The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.


Position Overview:


The Cost Control Data Analyst plays a key role within the Commercial department by transforming project cost data into actionable insights. This role focuses on data integration, analysis, and visualization to enhance cost forecasting accuracy, monitor financial performance, and support strategic decision-making.

Working cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, Project Controls, and Construction Management, the analyst ensures data consistency across systems and develops scalable reporting solutions to improve cost visibility and project outcomes.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost forecasting through data-driven models, scenario analysis, and predictive insights.
  • Design and optimize data structures aligned with the Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) to improve reporting efficiency and traceability.
  • Develop and maintain automated cost reporting tools, dashboards, and data models to support project performance tracking.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and standardization across project control systems.
  • Analyze cost data (actuals, commitments, forecasts) to identify trends, variances, and financial risks.
  • Integrate and reconcile data from multiple sources (ERP systems, procurement tools, scheduling platforms) to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with project teams to translate business requirements into analytical solutions and reporting outputs.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including earned value metrics, and provide insights on project performance.
  • Support change management analysis by quantifying cost impacts using historical data and trend analysis.
  • Track and allocate project expenses, ensuring proper cost code assignment and alignment with budgeted work items.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data analysis, project controls, or cost control within construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, Data Analytics, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; strong experience with SQL and data manipulation.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Understanding of cost control principles, budgeting, and forecasting in project environments.
  • Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) and project scheduling concepts (CPM).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
