Union Home Mortgage’s L.E.A.D Internship Program’s goal is to provide a fun, interesting, and real-world environment for our interns to Learn about the industry, be Educated by Sr. Leadership and their peers, Achieve their personal goals and Develop their skills and knowledge base. We pride ourselves in providing innovative programs to our interns for them to learn and grow as they progress through their careers. Some of the programs we offer include: shadowing, mentoring, professional development, group projects and we even take our interns on corporate outings! Our internship program gives students a chance to meet new people, gain more experience, and learn from the best in the business! Our interns are treated like full-time Partners who work 40 hours a week during the 3-month summer program, are compensated, and based out of headquarters in Strongsville, Ohio. 

A Data Analyst Intern is responsible for working as part of a team to create, enhance and maintain custom reports that are relied upon to effectively and efficiently run the business.  Interns also work on special projects to be presented to UHM’s leadership team at the conclusion of the internship.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop custom reports and models that address business needs
  • Extract, manipulate and visualize data across different platforms.
  • Conduct exploratory meetings with business partners to generate ideas on how data and reporting can be used to drive operational efficiencies, as well as new business opportunities
  • Present findings and recommendations to different audiences and at different times with an emphasis on effectively informing stakeholders with necessary information to make critical business decisions.

Other tasks as assigned by your supervisor

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Familiarity with at least one relational database (SQL preferred)
  • Familiarity with at least one spreadsheet application
  • Understanding and use of Business Intelligence and visualization Tools (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, etc.)
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Self-motivated individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A willingness to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • An understanding of AI tools and their use (i.e. Co-Pilot, Claude, etc.)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Pursuing a 2-year or 4-year college degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or Economics
  • Junior or Senior Standing
