To thrive as a Data Visualization Graphic Designer, you need expertise in graphic design principles, data interpretation, and proficiency with design software, typically supported by a degree in graphic design, data science, or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Tableau, Power BI, and data visualization libraries like D3.js is commonly required. Strong attention to detail, creativity, and effective communication skills help convey complex data in visually compelling and easily understandable ways. These skills are crucial for transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive decision-making and user engagement.

Is data visualization a good career?

Data visualization is a growing field within data analysis and design, with demand for professionals skilled in tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Adobe Illustrator. It offers opportunities in various industries such as finance, healthcare, and technology, often requiring strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex data clearly. The career can be rewarding with competitive salaries and opportunities for advancement, especially for those with a background in graphic design, data analysis, or related certifications.

What is a data visualization graphic designer?

A Data Visualization Graphic Designer is a professional who specializes in transforming complex data and information into visually engaging and easily understandable graphics, such as charts, infographics, and dashboards. They use design principles and data analysis skills to communicate insights effectively to various audiences. Early in a project, designers meet with stakeholders to clarify objectives and gather requirements. Throughout the process, they iterate on design concepts, incorporating feedback to ensure that visuals accurately reflect the data's story and meet audience needs. Regular communication and collaboration are essential, as designers must balance aesthetics, clarity, and accuracy while supporting stakeholders’ goals.

About Kaizen

Kaizen, A Tetra Tech Company, is an incubator for innovative, scalable solutions that address emerging market challenges and opportunities. Our proven solutions catalyze locally driven, organizational, and institutional performance improvements and shift the development model into one that is bottom-up and ongoing. We leverage existing knowledge, new technologies, and innovative business models.

Kaizen seeks applications for graphic design services to support the development of knowledge, learning, and communication documents for the end-of-project activities for the USG-funded Wadata Resilience Food Security Activity (RFSA), which ends in September 2025.

About Wadata

The Wadata Activity, a 7-year, $50 million USAID/Bureau of Humanitarian Aid (BHA)-funded multi-sector Resilience and Food Security Activity (RFSA), aims to sustainably improve food security, food and nutritional security, and resilience of extremely poor and vulnerable households in Zinder through stratified interventions targeting communities, households, and individuals. Launched in October 2018, Wadata will continue until September 2025. To achieve its objective, Wadata is implementing activities in three integrated focus areas:

Objective 1: Strengthening collective action to deal with shocks and stresses linked to food, nutritional, and water security.

Objective 2: Increased capacity, assets, and agency for better access to adequate and diversified food at all times.

Design and edit graphic elements for short videos.

Design and edit communication materials, such as banners, posters, brochures, infographics, and other products for capitalization, knowledge sharing and learning events, press conferences, and other venues.

Deliver products in French and/or English.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, user experience design, or other related fields is required.

  • Proficiency in using design software and applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Photoshop, CapCut, and others.
  • Strong attention to design aesthetics and visual details.
  • Excellent communication skills.
