Job Summary:
Torch Technologies, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned company providing research, development, and engineering services to the Federal Government. They are seeking a Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and testing of aviation data transfer systems and emerging technologies, ensuring the reliable operation of critical data links.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute test strategies, plans, procedures, and reports for aviation data transfer software, middleware, APIs, and supporting services.
• Design manual and automated tests covering functional behavior, performance, reliability, fault tolerance, interoperability, and cybersecurity-relevant conditions.
• Support verification and validation of data movement across edge, airborne support, ground, and enterprise environments.
• Create and maintain test cases for transfer protocols, interface services, message handling, retry logic, error recovery, and audit logging.
• Build or maintain automated test frameworks for backend services, APIs, web applications, and integration workflows.
• Conduct integration, regression, system, and user-focused test activities in coordination with developers, system engineers, and operational stakeholders.
• Analyze defects, isolate root causes, document findings clearly, and support corrective action through closure.
• Validate software behavior in constrained, disconnected, intermittent, or degraded network conditions where applicable.
• Support requirements traceability and objective evidence for formal test readiness, technical reviews, and delivery milestones.
• Contribute to test data design, test environment setup, configuration control, and release validation.
Qualifications:
Required:
• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field.
• Active secret clearance and ability to maintain clearance is required to start.
• Experience testing software-intensive systems, web applications, APIs, services, or middleware integrations.
• Understanding of structured software test methodologies, defect lifecycle management, and verification practices.
• Experience with test automation tools, scripting, or frameworks used for API, service, UI, or integration testing.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and data transfer concepts including secure transport, messaging, and system interoperability.
• Ability to read logs, trace failures, and work closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Experience with configuration management, source control, and Agile or iterative development environments.
• Strong written communication skills for test procedures, anomaly reports, and verification evidence.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and issue tracking software (e.g., Azure DevOps).
• Ability to interpret technical documentation, schematics, and system specifications.
