Job description

As a Data Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping and executing Summit's data strategy. Through technical expertise, innovation, and collaboration, you'll help ensure our data is accurate, secure, accessible, and transformed into meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
What You'll Do (Your Impact)
  • Develop and execute Summit Credit Union's enterprise data strategy to support business and technology objectives.
  • Design, build, and maintain data architectures, databases, data models, and integration solutions that enable scalable and reliable data management.
  • Partner with business leaders, developers, engineers, and IT teams to understand data needs and deliver solutions that drive business value.
  • Establish and maintain data governance practices that ensure data quality, consistency, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, answer business questions, and support informed decision-making.
  • Leverage historical data and analytics to develop insights and predictive models that support future business outcomes.
  • Recommend and implement data tools, technologies, and best practices to improve data capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics related to data consumption, integration, and utilization.
  • Ensure data is protected against unauthorized access while remaining accessible to authorized users.
  • Exercise independent judgment when evaluating technologies, data solutions, and business opportunities.
  • Communicate technical concepts and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in data management roles or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of cloud architecture and modern data management practices.
  • Strong technical skills in data analytics, database design, and data modeling.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data integration, and enterprise data management practices.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytics tools.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets and translate findings into actionable business insights.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify innovative solutions using new technologies and methodologies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment when recommending technologies and business solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
