STORAGE ENGINEER

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Storage Engineer supporting CIS, you will play a key role in sustaining secure, resilient, and high-performance enterprise storage environments across a globally distributed infrastructure. You will design, integrate, and maintain storage platforms that support mission critical operations, ensuring data availability, continuity, and reliability. Your expertise will help optimize storage performance, streamline data management, and enable secure delivery of core IT services that keep users productive and systems running efficiently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineer, deploy, and maintain enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, backup, replication, object storage)
  • Monitor storage performance, capacity, and overall system health for secure and optimized operations
  • Provision storage resources, perform zoning and configuration, and integrate platforms across multiple environments
  • Support data protection, disaster recovery, COOP, and backup/restore activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve storage issues, performing break/fix and escalating when needed
  • Support storage migrations, upgrades, and technology refresh efforts aligned to lifecycle and baseline requirements
  • Maintain accurate storage documentation including diagrams, SOPs, and configuration records
  • Collaborate with engineering, cyber, and operations teams to integrate new capabilities and maintain secure configurations
  • Implement and validate patches, firmware updates, and security fixes per vulnerability and change management requirements
  • Monitor storage systems for security compliance, identify noncompliant devices, and support remediation and POA&M actions

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, or 10+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree
  • CERTIFICATION: Meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Workforce certification requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, etc.)
  • ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: NetApp Certified Data Administrator, ONTAP (NCDA), or equivalent
  • CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
  • Hands on experience with enterprise storage administration, including SAN/NAS, backup systems, replication, and storage lifecycle operations
  • Strong understanding of storage performance, capacity planning, data protection, and fault tolerant design
  • Familiarity with patching, configuration compliance, and change management processes
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex storage issues across distributed environments
  • Strong documentation, communication, and cross team collaboration skills
  • Ability to support CONUS/OCONUS travel as required
  • US citizenship required

The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
