GENERAL:

JOB SUMMARY
Under direction, assist in scheduling and orchestrating activities/tournaments held at the arena. Foster harmonious relationships with all staff and all user groups. Assist in coordinating and monitoring contractual facility use and user groups; as well as operate the Zamboni and maintain ice surface; maintain arena and ice grooming equipment, including the Zamboni and refrigeration equipment.  Position requires evening, weekend, and holiday work based on program needs. Overtime may be required and will be compensated in accordance with City policy and applicable law.
 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Exercises technical and functional supervision over Seasonal Ice Staff.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Coordinating, promoting, scheduling, and reviewing activities/tournaments held at the ice arena, including providing reasonable ice rink access for numerous user groups such as youth, adult leagues, as well as teen, preschool, and senior citizen programs, and contract activities/user groups.
Operating POS software.
Teaching ice skating lessons.
Laying a sheet of ice, including proper hockey lines.
Operating the Zamboni and maintaining the ice surface.
Maintaining arena and ice grooming equipment, including the Zamboni and refrigeration equipment.
Performing janitorial duties.
Sharpening skates using a manual skate sharpening machine.
Directing recreation programs and activities; maintaining and recording program revenues and expenditures; developing expenditure plans; maintaining accurate records of programs and participants.
Evaluating community needs and interests.
Recommending new ice arena programs.
Preparing promotional materials, program evaluations, correspondence, and reports.
Monitoring the use of the Ice Arena by user groups.
Assisting and enforcing established rules of facility use and participant conduct.
Assisting in developing and monitoring contractual agreements with service providers. 
Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising contractual employees.
Recruiting, training, and coordinating community volunteers.
Responding to and resolving inquiries and complaints, including handling public relations and customer service issues.
Serving as a liaison with the community to coordinate programs and committees.
Performing a variety of administrative and clerical duties; operate a variety of modern office machines, including computers, printers, copiers, and calculators.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities described below.
Experience:
At least one season of experience in ice arena duties, including maintaining a sheet of ice, or equivalent experience providing comparable skills.
Training Preferred:
Certified Ice Technician (CIT): In-depth technical training regarding refrigeration, ice maintenance, and facility operations 
License or Certificate:
Possession of CPR and First Aid Certificates.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
May require refrigeration certification and ice maintenance certifications.
Special Requirements:
Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, swim, ice skate, and lift 50 lbs.; exposure to outdoors; ability to travel to different sites and locations; availability for evening games, events, and scheduled during non-working hours.
