Position Summary

This position is part of the data governance team but supports the entire Bank.  As a Data Governance Professional, you will develop and publish data definitions, rules, mappings, and transformations. You are expected to facilitate effective data governance practices and provide actionable insights to support business objectives.  Data Governance Professionals have the responsibility to ensure the integrity and quality of our data assets. You will perform responsibilities in accordance with all Bank standards, policies, and procedures.

Summary of Essential Job Functions
  • Execute and provide input data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency across various systems and platforms.
  • Monitor and enforce data standards, data definitions, and data lifecycle management.
  • Conduct data audits and data profiling to identify and address data quality issues.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for data-related projects and initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications, business rules and source to target data mappings for IT development teams to implement.
  • Perform data analysis to support decision-making and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to communicate data findings.
  • Develop and maintain tooling to support data governance functions within the Bank to streamline alignment of data initiatives and business goals within the data governance team
  • Provide training and support to business users on data management practices and tools.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Risk, Legal, and Technology teams to define governance requirements and data ownership responsibilities
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in business analysis, data architecture, data science, or data engineering; preferably within the financial services industry.
  • At least two (2) years of experience supporting enterprise-wide data governance or data management initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills - and ability to thrive in a fast-paced complex environment.
  • Experience with data governance tools, data quality tools, and business intelligence platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis, reporting, and visualization tools (e.g., SQL, Cognos, Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Working knowledge of agile principles and practices.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Stakeholders, Team Members, Product Owners, and Management in both written and verbal form.
Preferred
  • Graduate or advanced degree in quantitative areas such as mathematics, economics, engineering, computer science, operations research and equivalent industry experience. 
  • Data Governance related certifications are a plus (e.g., Certified Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP), Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)).
  • Strong financial analytical skills with the ability to read, interpret, and evaluate, financial time-series tracking reports (including vintage analysis).
  • Understanding of AI lifecycle governance, model documentation standards, and regulatory expectations.
