Job Description Summary

Santa Fe College's Department of Natural Sciences faculty providepre-professional instruction to guide the development of the nextgeneration of scientists, engineers, environmentalists, and healthproviders. We also serve non-science major students with generaleducation science courses to enhance their understanding andappreciation of science in their own lives, their community, andthe world.

Job Description

Under general supervision, the Adjunct Assistant Professor willdevelop, prepare, and teach a variety of Chemistry coursework. TheAdjunct Assistant Professor must have the flexibility to teachcourses during the day, evening, or online, as well as taught usingother distance learning formats.

Part‑time instructional service will be paid at a rate of $822 persemester credit hour and $32.88 per clock/contact hour.

Responsibilities and Duties Include

• Plans, organizes, and delivers instruction to didactic,laboratory, and/or classroom settings to promote student successwithin a community college setting.
• Supports and promotes the college and departmental missionscentered on excellence in teaching and learning through qualityinstruction, curriculum enhancement, and timely service.
• Collaborates with the Director, faculty, and peers to evaluate,revise, and develop curriculum that cultivates the mastery ofcourse content.
• Demonstrates technological literacy and innovation in thedelivery of instruction.
• Works collaboratively as part of a cohesive academic team.
• Assists with the implementation of college policies,objectives, and functions in accordance with the SF philosophy,mission, strategic initiatives, and procedures.
• Participates in departmental meetings and collegewidecommittees as needed.
• Provides students with frequent, timely assessment and clearfeedback regarding academic performance.
• Appropriately documents student progress and maintains recordsincluding attendance, grading, and student learning outcomes.
• Develops methods that fairly and accurately assess students’progress in achieving the stated learning outcomes/objectives.
• Maintains appropriate office hours proportionate to theinstructional assignment.
• Strictly honors the privacy and security of student records andother sensitive information according to appropriate state, federaland college regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Complies with all published College Rules, procedures,guidelines, and laws/regulations governing public employees,including but not limited to those related to document retentionand destruction, FERPA, and confidentiality.
• Provides service excellence through courteous, informed,accessible, and professional engagement.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Chair, Natural Sciences

QUALIFICATIONS Required

A master's degree or a master's degree with atleast 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry, ChemicalEngineering, or Biochemistry.

Additional Requirements

A criminal background check will beconducted.

Preferred

Relevant teaching experience within a communitycollege setting.
