Job Description
Facilitates high-quality, student-centered learning that prepares future nurses for competent, compassionate, and ethical practice. This role supports the mission of the institution by fostering academic excellence, professional integrity, and evidence-based practice in alignment with nursing standards, accreditation requirements, and institutional outcomes.
Job responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other instructors in preparing, administering, and grading examinations for the course. Participate in the preparation of the final evaluations for the course.
  • Responsible for assuring class attendance and grades are kept and submitted.
  • Assist with strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
  • Plan and implement orientation of new faculty in theory & clinical facilities for the courses.
  • Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction.
  • Demonstrate or be willing to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
  • Maintain student records and assist with program data collection.
  • Submit required program reports & forms to the Director of the program in a timely manner.
  • Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
  • Participate in committee activities that support the education program(s).
  • Attend faculty meetings
  • Plan and supervises student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities.
  • Follow all policies and procedures established by Unitek Learning.
  • Provide feedback on clinical performance or specific events immediately after observation.
  • Ensure clinical assignments meet student and facility needs.
  • Determine best method to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
  • Provide in-person and remote access to students for ongoing communication.
  • Participate in student advising activities.
  • Regular, in-person attendance up to 5 days per week on campus/on site is an essential function of this position.
  • The role requires on-site collaboration with students, faculty, and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Among the requirements for faculty teaching technical (non- Gen Ed) courses in a CCNE-accredited BSN program at a college accredited by ACCSC are:
  • at least 4 years' experience in direct patient care as an RN
  • a BSN degree and a health-related Masters or Doctorate degree*

Among the requirements for faculty teaching technical (non- Gen Ed) courses in a CCNE-accredited BSN program at a college accredited by ABHES are:
  • at least 3 years' experience in direct patient care as an RN
  • a BSN degree and a health-related Masters or Doctorate degree*

*A Master of Science in Nursing may be required if teaching students attending classes from certain states (e.g. New Mexico, Arizona). This requirement will be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Employment Status (Unitek HR will check one upon hiring):
Full Time: work at least 40 hrs/week; paid annual salary; overtime & commissions ineligible
Part Time: expected to work less than 40 hrs/week; paid hourly; overtime-eligible
Per-diem: scheduled as needed; work at least 8 hrs/month; paid hourly; overtime-eligible
Teaching experience for full-time faculty only
  • 0 - 2 years Teaching experience Level I
  • 2 - 5 years Teaching experience Level II
  • 5 - 10 years Teaching experience Level III
  • 10 plus years Teaching experience Level IV
