Job description

The Middle School Science Teacher is a dynamic and inquiry-driven instructor who is dedicated to fostering student curiosity, growth, and achievement. They value collaboration with colleagues, and embody a growth mindset. The Middle School Science Teacher works in collaboration as part of a 7th & 8th grade team consisting of ELA Teacher, Social Studies Teacher , and Science Teacher.
Requirements
Key Competencies: Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Flexibility to adapt instruction in the moment to meet student needs in an inquiry-driven space.
  • Ability to create and adapt unit plans using provided curricular resources such as FOSS.
  • Implementation of accommodations and modifications.
  • Co-plan, co-instruct, and co-assess with diverse learner teacher(s) and other staff to deliver accessible, standards-based instruction to individual students, small groups, and the whole class
  • Interest in working collaboratively and reflect on own practice to improve instruction for all students.
  • Ability to unpack Math Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Use a variety of engagement techniques to promote student learning.
  • Commitment to using data and assessment to drive instruction.
  • Willingness to consistently manage student behavior employing school-wide system.
  • Ability to manage hands-on activities with many moving parts and materials.
  • Dedication to actively engage parents in educational advocacy for their children.

Qualifications:
Illinois PEL with Middle School Science Endorsement & ESL Endorsement
2+ years of relevant experience in content area instruction preferred
